Telus Upgrade To Blackberry

Anyone know Telus's policy on smartphone upgrades. I'm currently on a 3 year plan with a Motorola Milestone and only about a year in but want to upgrade to a Blackberry. What am I looking at paying?

I really want one because everyone else I know just got them and i'm the only one who doesn't have one. Would it be best to wait for a newer one to come out? Are there any new ones coming out soon?

Also would Telus carry used Blackberry's? What a good site to find good deals on, I tried ebay but couldn't really find anything. If anyone knows someone who is selling a Blackberry on Telus, let me know.

As far as the plan, you should just call them and ask how much you would have to pay to get a Blackberry. Chances are if you are only a year into your contract you will have to pay a little bit of money.

The newest blackberries are the Torch with has the touchscreen and keyboard and the Bold 9780 which only has the keyboard. I have the Bold 9780 snd really like it so far, I've only has it for about 3 weeks. Not sure if any new ones are coming out soon.

I don't think Telus sells used Blackberries but maybe refurbished ones. I recently sold my old Blackberry on Kijiji, you could try looking there.

Oh oops I forgot to mention another new berry, the Blackberry Style which is a flipphone version.

Keep in mind though that the Style is on the CDMA network and the bold and torch are 3G

With the amount of the contract you have fulfilled and having about two years left chances are you won't get any discount on the new phone. Usually with Telus you need to wait at least 2 years into a contract unless they now have a early upgrade policy

They do have the early upgrade policy now. You have to pay $10 per month for each month remaining on your contract and then you can buy the new phone at the 3 year contract price.

My daughter just upgraded, her old phone she had for about a year and it took a fall into some "yellow water", the rice trick didn't work. She went in, got a 9780 and I think she only has to pay about $110. Not bad. I'm with Bell, with a Tour and it's crazy trackball, 1.5 years into a 3 year contract and NO discounts to upgrade til this December.

Bell has en early upgrade policy as well but not exactly sure what is the amount per month? and it has to be setup through customer service first

Telus has an "Early Device Upgrade Fee" which is $10/month remaining and that gets you promo pricing on any new phone. As for used BBs, it varies from store to store. Some dealerships carry refurbished units but at best you might find an 8530 for $150. Another great place to check for used devices though is Kijiji.
