Default Telus storm2 9550 concerns

i have a problem i keep going back and forth on which company to use the storm2 9550 on. Up until today i was sure id be going with fido but my friends can be persuasive and have pushed me towards telus.

Looking at telus' plans i am considering getting the phone 30 plan with the 500mb blackberry data add on. Before taxes it comes to $55 a month, are there system access fees per month or other charges besides the taxes?
This is def my biggest concern if there are system access fees and other hidden costs then the bill could come up to $70 which is out of my range.
On the plan i chose above will bbm and all other apps on the phone work regularly?
If u have a diff plan for your storm2 and use it for surfing and txting (not so much talking lol) share it with me always open to new ideas

I am not sure if this is a good plan for the storm2 but i can let you know that i will be using it for surfing the web often.

Also i am fully aware that on fido i cannot get 3g but on telus can i get cdma 3g? I have heard yes and no so if a telus storm 2 user could answer that one it would give me another reason to switch mabye:P ( i kno i cannot get hspa 3g+)

and finally is their anything i should know about getting a storm2 on telus like problems/issues or something i have to do?
any help is greatly welcomed

On Telus, you can get 3G via the CDMA connection (it's 1XEV), assuming you have a Telus Storm2. If you do not have a Telus Storm2 (e.g. if you have access to one from Verizon), you won't be able to use it on Telus at all. On Fido, you will only get 2G (EDGE) with the Storm2 and that's all. You will also need to unlock the Storm2 to take it to Fido and you will have to pay to buy the phone outright (assuming you're buying the phone new from Telus and not used from someone else).

Now then, when it comes to plan pricing for Telus, take a look at the Clear Choice 50 plan. That is essentially what you're looking at getting now, except that there is no system access fee or 911 fee involved (it's $50+tax and that's it). You can get more info about this plan here: https://www.telusmobility.com/en/BC/...es/index.shtml

Note, if you sign up for the plan before March 31st, there are some freebies thrown in which may also make it worth your while.

I hope that makes sense and helps you out, but don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions!

I'm not 100% certain, but so long as Telus has worked through their previous stock, then yup, they should be the ones with the fix.

Now then, if you do end up getting a Telus Storm 2, you should be covered by warranty if there is a problem. If you are getting the phone from someone else or someone you know, I would suggest that you go in store with them to ensure that you will have some sort of warranty coverage and that they can transfer that coverage to you. This will just protect you in the event that something goes wrong.

Yup, if you purchase the phone from Telus, you'll have a one year warranty so long as you stay with them for your service. If you take it to Fido, then you'll need to ask as I don't know if they will cover you or it might get a little more complicated anyhow.

Telus issues refurbished phones when your phone has an issue (never been a problem for me) while Best Buy and Future Shop may simply issue a new phone off the shelf (especially if you purchase their extended warranty - although that is an extra monthly cost I have trouble's justifying). I purchased an extended warranty with my Storm 1 (purchased through a Telus store) - if you can get one at a good deal, it may be worthwhile so that you're covered in the event that something happens after a year.

Anyhow, just a bit more info for you.

Why would you go on a Telus contract and then move it over to a Fido right away?

Yup, it's true, you can take your current cell phone number to any carrier in Canada (finally!!!). The easiest way to do it would be to take care of it when you go into a Telus dealership to buy the phone. They can actually take care of the whole process for you. Just let them know you're currently with Fido and want to switch to Telus and keep the same number. From what I understand, they will then take care of calling Fido and porting the number over. I'm not sure how the cancellation fee works though... you can likely ask in store as well.

Good luck and enjoy the new Storm!
