Default Telus has dropped the Storm 9530

Looks like Telus' crappy service is continuing with them now dropping the Storm 9530 from their lineup. They have neglected all of their customers who purchased this phone from day one. Their lack of updates is downright pitiful. Now, that they have dropped it from their lineup the chance of getting an official update from Telus is gone.

I've said it a thousand times, Telus' customer service and support is the worst in the North American cellular market. With this move they have proven it once again.

So, because Telus may have finally finished with their Storm stock and is no longer selling them, Telus has bad customer service and support? The model has now been replaced by the 9550 (Storm2). So why should they keep selling an old model?

Try going to Rogers and see if you like the service there. Tell me how you feel when they sign you up for a 3 year deal without giving you a new phone after you told them explicitly that you didn't want a contract and didn't need a new phone. Or when you're constantly having to call them about extra charges that show up on your bill. Both of those have happened to my boyfriend and his sister/brother-in-law.

Trust me, Telus customer service is not a problem. The only problem they have is that they are slow to provide OS updates. In their view, if the current OS works fine, there is no need to upgrade. And as bad as 4.7.0.122 is, there actually isn't anything really wrong with it. Everything works. It's slow as molasses and requires occasional battery pulls because the memory drops too low, but besides that, all of the functions work. And unfortunately, a lot of the new upgrades have one bug or another (like the VAD issue in 5.0.0.328, or the SMS line issue in .419, etc).

We'll see if Telus upgrades, but at this point, if they don't receive complaints about the OS, they have no reason to. If you want increase the chances, send them a message complaining. The more complaints they get, the more likely they'll push out an OS upgrade.

I've never seen anyone this offended because their carrier dropped a phone.

Try a leak, you nimrod. There was only about 27 leaks from August - now for the Storm 1. You're crying because Telus won't spoonfeed you an update? There's about 4 other official OS' from different carriers that passed THEIR testing that work just fine, and a bunch of leaks that work even better than that! You have no one but yourself to blame for lack of updates. The software is there, you're just too lazy to do it yourself.

And if you really want something from Telus, get a Storm 2 and stop complaining.

I think the op was more pissed about the lack of support with the 9530 than the fact that they dropped the model. I for one am pissed that there has only been one official OS update since it"s release, and yes I am aware that we can update another carriers official OS, BUT why should we have to when after all we give our hard earned money to TELUS!

Sorry if that sounded like a rant but it wasn't my intent, I was mearly just supporting the op and the true lack of update support with this model.

Telus hasn't even released one for the Storm 2. They just released their very first official 5.0 for ANY Blackberry, the 9700. Frankly, why bother.

They've got the Tour, which we won't even touch as to why.

The 8330, which can barely handle it.

The 9530, that has about 10 out of 400 working builds.

the 9550, which has a 'working properly' build at .320, which they released AFTER the phone came out (it comes preloaded with .320),

The 9700, which is their 3G+ Blackberry, and a flagship device.

Which one of these is priority to update? Telus has apparently always been notoriously slow with ALL phones to release builds / OS', so i wouldn't have expected the Storm to be any different.

I understand you think Telus owes you a new OS, but they really don't. They give you an OS that works, and it works fine. It's slow, it's outdated, and it doesn't have the new features of 5.0, but it works. That's all they owe you.

If you really want to fix things, break your fear of leaks and hybrids, and use those. I'm not trying to be a ****, but that's just how it is.

One thing I've learned over the years dealing with Telus. They may sell the latest in handsets from Blackberry, Motorola, Apple etc..., but they do not have the technical savvy to support them. That is why I depend on this website (i.e.Crackberry) for my BB support. I also have more faith in telcos such as Verizon for vetting BB OS releases, than I do Telus.

Again, as I stated before, please contact Telus and complain about how slow and painful 4.7.0.122 is to use. The only way we'll see any update is if enough people call and complain about the OS.

i'm pissed off with telus also...i'm on my fourth phone...warranty is over in like 2 days...the first phone was amazing..i DID the upgrades like you guys suggested...and they made my storm work awesome...but six months into my contract the charger port all of a sudden wouldnt hold the cable..it kept falling out..thus not getting enough power to charge properly..i went in and asked if it could be just a need for a new cable..and they said NOOO we need to replace the phone...soo i hesitantly replaced the phone...very worried that this phone would not work as well as my previous...All was well with my second phone but about a month later..i go to make a call on my SECOND phone...and my little red power button is lifted off of the phone...about 1/4 inch??? sooo again i bring it in..and i say..can i just put a little dab of glue or something to fix this problem..i dont want to do anything unless its ok'd by you..and they dont even look at it (AGAIN) they just say...we need to replace the phone...again...i say whatever...i kept the phone another couple weeks before ok'ing the replacement.. thinking "this isnt so bad..i can live with it" but someone suggested i switch it out..since i still had 2 years left to 'live with it"..and i hesitantly did...phone 3....was sooo buggy..YES i upgraded OS...but it kept loosing calls...i'd be on hold for someone and all of a sudden DROP...it would freeze up...it would shut down for now reason...this was all within a week...sooo again i bring it back...and say...lets try for number 4...at this point i'm upset..and i say..look i'm not trying to burn you guys for a new phone...all i want is this one to work!!!!! Telus in turn makes me an "offer" pfffft offer@@ my @@ss....they will give me 250 towards another phone...of course the phone will cost me 600$....soo is that a help to me??? NO...soo i say..stick ur offer and get me another phone...and they do...phone 4...its the worst..the girl at the store suggested (as you all have here) that i upgrade to 5.0 (even though they dont officially offer it..) which I did as in previous phones...it was still a piece of CRAP..I know what the storm can do..i had my first and i loved every bit of it...soo they cant tell me at the store that its "just the way the storm is" anyway...i called tech support ..and BECAUSE I UPGRADED THE OS...they wil not offer support..as telus does not support any upgrades from their official os release...soo i am soo upset and i downgrade back to their official..and my phone is STILL doing the same thing...soo i upgrade yet again...and still...freezing...wont hang up at the end of a call unless i battery pull...i'm at about three battery pulls a day...which is better but still unacceptable...so what do i do??? Telus wont help me..because i've upgraded..if i down grade..back to their os..it still is a peice of crap ..when i bring it to them...its working...its only sporatic...i'm at a loss...and now i'm told they are dropping the phone...oh great!...soo my point of this long rant is...dont rag on the OP for posting a complaint against Telus..i feel his pain...its a very stressful time when your not getting answers..and they act like "its ok for your phone to be sub standard..just battery pull"...and the fact that the operating system that they have released WORKS..well just working isnt good enough when ur spending $600.00 on a peice of equipment....and dont get me started on Telus blocking MMS....!!!! am i unhappy with TELUS...YOU BET

Downgrade and call Telus. They will support you so long as you're on an official OS.

First off, I'm not complaining about Telus de-listing the storm. I should have made that clear. I'm complaining about their slow movement on releasing official updates.

As for using a leak. I am, but I shouldn't have to. For the amount customers pay for their monthly service, Telus and every other carrier should release updates in a timely manner.

I currently have two blackberry's. One from Telus, one from Rogers. The Rogers service is better. The bills are less and their customer service reps are competent. Not like the morons that work at Telus (which you are probably one of).

Lastly, as for the nimrod comment. Anyone that resorts to using such tactics when responding to a general internet post as if it were a personal attack is either of inferior intellect or ****** bag. My guess is your both.

Now instead of responding to posts on crackberry your should go back to answering phones at your Telus customer service job.

First off, GlitchZero doesn't work for Telus. Neither do I. But I think we're a little sick of people whining and complaining illegitimately. And you comment about people making personal attacks... did you look at your post? I guess that since you're using personal attacks, using your logic, you're both of inferior intellect and a ****** bag. (Your words, not mine.)

By the way, did you even read my post? You say Rogers has good customer service? To expand on the above, nearly everyone I know on Rogers has at least one complaint, and in most cases, those complaints have cost people hundreds or thousands of dollars. And they are typically due to mess ups that Roger's wonderful customer service has caused. And then they have to spend hours on the phone trying to get Rogers to fix their mistakes. Those are hours they will never get back.

And as I stated above, why would Telus upgrade something that isn't broken. As slow as .122 is on the Storm, it works. There is nothing broken. It's painful to use, but it works. No VAD glitch, no SMS lines when scrolling, etc. If you don't like .122, call and complain with specific issues. That's the only way you can push Telus to upgrade.

Now then, maybe you should go back to whatever you do rather than wasting your precious time on CrackBerry. We're not going anywhere.

Okay so let's deconstruct your post and check one thing off at a time, shall we?

I can see by the title of your thread, that's EXACTLY what you meant when you said 'Telus dropped the 9530'. I clearly should have taken that to mean 'Telus doesn't release enough 9530 OS updates'.

Have you seen EVERY other company? I think Verizons is like 4.7.0.151. It's not like it's only Telus moving at a glacial pace when it comes to Blackberry builds, it's carriers in general wanting something that doesn't **** up every ten seconds.

First off, don't say 'I shouldn't have to.' There is **** all that makes you better than anyone else that owns a Blackberry, and the rest of us have to use leaks if we want newer, better features too. If you were actually content with your device in proper working order, you never would've ran a leak. I can fully admit I want more out of my Blackberry than 4.7 could ever give me. Which is why I jumped on every 5.0 leak like a fat kid on chocolate cake, even if my camera didn't work (.230), my SMS was messed up (.230+), My videos wouldn't play (.3XX), etc. Secondly, you could be paying a lot more. And thirdly, then become some kind of multi billionaire, buy out all the Canadian carriers (Which, thank Bell for something, won't happen because you can't monopolize this crap anymore), and release an update every day. You know what happens when carriers push out updates that aren't ready because the public demands a leak? .320 for the Storm2 happens. They push out an official that sucks *** and crosses the finish line coughing up blood. Then people complain. You're damned if you do. If you do, it's either too slow, too buggy, or too far behind every other BB's build. If you don't, you get people like you complaining that what DOES work isn't good enough.

Well now this whole paragraph just made me laugh. Rogers service is absolutely terrible. I was with them for three years, and I've been with Telus for 6 months. With Rogers my bill fluctuated (on a dumbphone, might I add.) between $60 (what I was supposed to be paying) and $250 dollars, depending on what features they decided to add or subtract that month, due to them no longer being offered and some dip deleting it. On Telus, my bill has consistently came to $69.79, which was exactly what they told me it was going to be the day I signed up for my plan. Now explain how a dumbphone plan on Rogers came to almost the same amount as a Blackberry plan on Telus? No data on the dumbphone, exact same features that I have on my Telus plan, and seeing as this is a new contract, no L&R perks either. Rogers service reps are competent at one thing, and that's cancelling out crap on bills, because that's all they spend their time doing. They're tech support should be rated #1 in the country, seeing as the only time anyone calls it is because they accidently hit '2' instead of '3' for billing. I'm also loving the fact that I'm automatically a Telus representative because I like the company. God forbid I enjoy my carriers service.
