Question Telus BlackBerry Storm to Fido

Ive seen a few threads in regards to unlocked Telus branded Storms running on the Fido network but none actually outline the process.

I have a buddy in Ottawa on the Fido network. His handset was destroyed and he is 6 months away from his upgrade date. His only option at this point is to use my old Telus Storm or buy a new handset at around $500

How do I go about unlocking my Telus Storm and once that is done what do I need to do to get it onto his existing Fido account?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

There are multiple sites that do unlocking. The thing is to keep in mind if it is a CDMA or HSPA or GSM Device. CDMA = no go, GSM = Go, HSPA = Go but only on EDGE (No 3 G speeds). My storm 1 was CDMA with SIM slot which allowed for unlocking but it too would only work on EDGE I believe. Cellunlock is popular around here

THe 9530 will work but you will have to input certain settings such as fido APN and tell fido to take off call name display and put regular caller id.

Hi guys;

I have a problem with my strom, I had a storm 1 from telus when I was living in Montreal, now I moved to Tunisia (north Africa) I'm trying to use my blackberry there, I'm receiving the calls everythign is fine.

The problem is, I just activated the email services with a local provider, but I'm guetting edge on the top right of my phone screen when I was told that I'm supposed to have EDGE.

Is there any reason for that? how I can get that EDGE? any OSupdate needed? any new configuration needed.

Thank you very much for helping me.

Skander

Hi Skander,

Have you ensured that your carrier has set up a BlackBerry data plan for you? If so, you may need to contact Telus to request that they remove your PIN from the network so that it can be connected to your new network.
