So the device doesn't show if I'm on lte or 3g. The rep at the store said nothing was required, and cutting my sim would be fine. How do I know if in getting lte

You need to be in an LTE coverage zone. If you are connected to LTE then at the top right of your BlackBerry Z10 it will say 4GLte or something along those lines.

I strongly doubt cutting your sim will work, the micro sim has a different tech on it hence why they are selling it rather than suggesting everyone "cutting" the card...that is probably why you don't see LTE, only 3g...The Micro sim is LTE capable but not the regular one that I assume you have since you mentioned cutting.
The sim should have been free with the brand new purchase of the phone
. Good luck.

Yeah I'm quite confident the regular SIM's are not LTE capable. Spend the $10 for a new SIM and so the swap online for free.

Who is your carrier? In Canada the carriers went to what they call a "V3 Micro Sim" this is a 3G and LTE sim card. If you didn't have a V3 sim then cutting it to fit into a micro sim slot will not give you LTE as it cannot connect to that network.

Zack is correct. You need a V3 SIM to enable LTE. If you have one of those already then cutting it down to a micro SIM size that will also work for you.
Make sure you have one of the punches not done with scissors as it's really hard to get right. - 02-12-2013, 11:29 PM #7
Yea, I'd save your time and just pick up a new sim.

Exactly what the others have said...
You need the V3 Sim and to also be in an area that has LTE coverage.
Cutting a regular sim does not even sound like a smart thing to do. Shell out the $10 for a new sim.Former:Motorola MicroTac-Motorola V120x-Nokia 3280-Audiovox 8600-Audiovox 8410-Samsung A920-LG Vx8500 (Chocolate)-BlackBerry Pearl 8130-LG Vx9700 (Dare)-BlackBerry Curve 8530-BlackBerry Torch 9800-BlackBerry Torch 9810

One thing you might want to check is that LTE is enabled. To do this go to "Settings, Network Connections and click on "Mobile Network" and then "Network Technology" I have lte disabled by default as I heard it drains battery, I only turn it on in the event I'm downloading something.

forgot I made this thread. Will update for anybody getting this on a search result. When you have wifi on it replaces the LTE symbol on the phone. First few days I was in wifi area non-stop so I couldnt tell what mobile connection I was receiving.
