Screen on Tour has gone to crap and I need help making a decision
I bought an LG Shine approximately two years ago, paying ~$180 out of pocket and signing a new contract. I constantly had battery life problems and it would randomly shut down during the warranty period. I had it sent to service several times and it was never resolved. Just a month out of warranty it totally crapped out and wouldn't turn on long enough to boot. I then got a BB Tour and paid over $300 out of pocket and signed a new three year agreement. Just a month out of warranty the screen developed a dead spot.
I've been a Telus customer for almost 10 years and they've given me two options: (1) ride out the 21 months remaining on my contract and get a $100 discount on a phone or (2) early termination of my contract (with no penalty) and get $200 credit towards a phone.
Which do you think is the better option? Pay the extra premium and get to the end of my contract sooner or get the cheaper price and have to bump up my contract time?
Of there, there is the just suffer through a little longer with a f*cked up screen a wait for a better renewal offer on better phones.
What do you CBers think? Can I do battery pulls on people that annoy me?!?

Take the $100
I would have to say take the $100 and ride out the rest of the contract. You can get some really nice cheap phones for under $500 with Telus. The HTC desire is available for $450.
This way you will be eligable for an upgrade by the time this phone starts outliving its usefulness because from my experience phones only have a lifespan of ~2 years. - 10-14-2010, 12:55 AM #3
If its only the screen, you could always buy a new screen on ebay for 50$ or so. Some even come with their own screw drivers so you can do it yourself...

But I'd honestly wait for better devices to come out. Telus *should* be turning on their HSPA network anytime now.. Their saying winter 2011 but who knows..Last edited by allergy; 10-14-2010 at 12:58 AM.

I wish I lived in Newfoundland, it's just gorgeous out there!
Rogers seems so much more alluring with their MTS/Rogers HSPA deal... Wish I had not resigned a contract... - 10-23-2010, 06:32 PM #9Evolution of my phones: BELL: Motorola StarTac > Audiovox > ROBBERS: Motorola Rokr E1 > BB Pearl 8100 > Motorola Razr (beach only backup
