Default Rogers iPhone on TELUS

After a bit of searching, I haven't been able to find a solid answer, and I've heard enough speculation that I need to ask before I pursue this...

I seem to recall hearing something that unless you own a TELUS iPhone, something about the data connections will not be correct, aka you wont have data, even if you have the proper data package; is this it's self correct? Or can I indeed take a Rogers iPhone, unlocked of course, pop in my TELUS SIM and let it rip?

Thank in advance!

It might take a bit of effort to get things up and running, but you will have no problem using data, etc on an unlocked device in the new HSPA network.

I know people using unlocked iPhones and BB 9700s with no problem (except that some of them have had issues with mms, but that's all).

Just make sure the iPhone is 3G capable (ie. Not the original 2G model) and you should be just fine.

A buddy of mine did it with a Fido one. Just make sure you DON'T update it when you put it in Itunes cause it'll brick (did on him and he had to get another one).

It should work because Telus/Rogers 3G uses the same bands.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'll give it a shot, not 100% sure if I want to lose my BB yet though.

You mean don't update the software period, or the baseband/firmware, etc? I can still connect it via iTunes and do my music transferring and whatnot though?

Thanks!

Connect it for sync as usual, but dont update the software. It will remove your jailbreak/unlock and the phone will be unusable

Sweet - when I last left iPhone, they had just moved to the 3.1 firmware, featuring the baseband upgrade - so if you wanted to keep your unlocked iPhone, you needed the 3.0 software, and baseband. Is this still the case, or have they cracked 3.1 and moved on to bigger and better things?

Here's a story you may find interesting:

iPhone OS 3.1.3 available now -- Engadget

It's now a couple of weeks old, but it refers to the upgrade version. So long as you're on iPhone OS 3.1.2 or lower, you should be able to find the jailbreaking software. I haven't heard anything about them jailbreaking 3.1.3 yet (although I don't usually keep 100% on top of that).

Yes it will work if unlocked and correct settings changed. As mentioned above, once you get going do not update or you will have to go through the whole unlocking again, and sometimes the solution is not yet available for the new firmware. You can google "Dev-Team"
