Default Roaming question

Hey all. I'm a relatively new cellphone user, have a bb9700. I'm going to Kauai in a couple of weeks and have a few questions. I want to take my cellphone but it is my home phone and I don't really plan on making phone calls. Is there a way to prevent this, can I just send them to voicemail without incurring charges? In addition, I want to be able to send the odd email, txt message and bbm message. Should i take a data roaming package out, is it worth it for say less than 10 to 15 messages? any information would be appreciated.

Definitely contact Telus for assistance. There have been reports here that you will get charged for calls even if you don't answer them, unless your phone is actually off. This is only a problem with the HSPA network because it is roaming off of AT&T. Now then, its possible that Telus may finally have an agreement with AT&T so that might not be the case anymore, but you will need to contact them to find out.

As to data roaming, it's not worth it (assuming they even have one you could use). You will be charged at $3/MB, and as long as you don't go downloading any apps, etc. and only use it for emails and a little BBM, then it shouldn't be a big deal.
