Default Questions about HPSA

One of my friends came to my house whith his Motorola on the HSPA network from telus, and it seems that he had a much better coverage than my Storm on the old network. Wich brings me those questions.

1- Is there any ways to get a Storm 2 on the Telus HSPA network? Where should I buy it, from wich carrier

2- When you have a HSPA phone, and you get outside the coverage area, does it uses the GSM network, or you just loose the signal?

Storm2 is not compatible with any North America HSPA bands, so that phone is out of the question on the Telus network. The Telus HSPA network is the same as their CDMA network in most areas in the country, so you should have coverage in the same places you have now. Telus has no GSM fallback of any kind in Canada.

acwyau is completely correct. If you are having problems with signal strength issues, try dialing *22809 on your phone and update the PRL list. No guarantees that this will work though as some people have had troubles doing this on the Storm2 9550.

But the HSPA towers should be in the same location as the CDMA towers, so signal strength should be similar with the only difference being the device. Please note that different OS versions can also have different signal strengths, meaning that a different OS could give you better signal strength. Call Telus for further assistance if required.
