Coverage is very subjective. You may have great coverage, yet your friend a few miles away (in the same city) may have zero coverage.
There are many variables, such as whether it's CDMA or HSPA, (they travel and penetrate bldgs. differently) how many towers are near you, how many other people are on the same tower, etc.
If coverage where you live work and play is that bad, maybe email a record of your dropped calls, botched texts, delayed emails and such every month for a few months. Then you have a record of your subpar service and they can't claim to be unaware of it.
Eventually this might help you avoid the ETF if you decide to part ways with them.
Though they might prefer to give you a credit on your account instead of losing you.
