Default my favourite 5

For anyone who has Telus' my fave 5, I have a question about the number that you can add on.

I plan to add a corporate office number to my phone (place of my work). The number is obviously a switchboard to the many extensions in the office. Does my fave work in this case? It doesn't fall into any of Telus' stipulation of toll-free, 900-series, my own cell, etc.

You shouldn't have any problem, as long as it isn't a 1-800 number. I used to have the favorite 5 thing and had 3 of my #'s office switch boards. So it shouldn't be a problem. I even went as far to add an external switch loop around to our switch, so I could re-dial outgoing numbers - Telus never caught on and I don't think they ever would. They really only frown up adding 1-800 number (which you can't actually add at all) or known long distance saving number (that 310-10-10 crap).

Just say it's your office (which it is) and they won't question it.

If the calling number you are receiving doesnt match the number in your faves call list on the Telus system, then you will be billed, as it is not considered part of the Faves List. The computer looks for exact number match only.

This would only be for incoming calls - all outgoing calls to the main switchboard would fall under the proper category - and even then - on most systems - the outgoing switch usually matches the incoming switch number.

Thanks, so basically it is possible, as long as the switchboard doesn't do anything funny like change the phone number?
But how would I know that?

When someone from the office calls you, what number comes up on the call display?

Or call yourself from your office - if the incoming caller ID matches the same number you dial to call the office - you'll be good to go!
