Long Shot LG phone unlock help

Hi Telus Peeps,

Does anyone know anything about LG phones? I have a friend who recently got a new job in Yellowknife. They don't have telus up there, they have bell. She loves her phone ( LG Versa 9600 ) and wants to bring it with her. I'm curious if anyone knows whethere those phones can be unlocked and used on the Bell network since Bell & Telus share the same frequencies. I did some googling but all I'm coming up with are how to unlock phone if the keypad itself is locked.

From what I understand, the LG Versa is a CDMA phone. Given that it's CDMA, it will not work on the Bell network. There is no way to unlock CDMA phones and Telus will not release the ESN for you to take it to Bell (and Bell would not add the phone's ESN to their network either anyhow).

The only types of phones that you can unlock are phones with SIM cards (e.g. the phones on the new Telus and Bell HSPA networks or other GSM phones (e.g. on providers such as Rogers, AT&T, etc).
