| | How can i get rid of the System Fee from Telus?
I have a couple friends from school that are with TELUS and they said they don't pay for the system access fee. So i called in 2 separate times and ask if they can remove it from my bill but they said i have to switch contracts with a plan with no system access fee. Now i have been with Telus for a very long time, almost 10 years now and they give me alot of freebies. I only pay 20 for my plan and 30 for data plus the system access fee which comes out to $64 a month. (with taxes)
Is there anyway i can call some sort of loyalty line and see if i can get a contract with no access fee's and still get all my features free?
Cause it seems other carriers out there have better deals right now...

yea i have a friend who works for corporate bell who can get me an awesome deal. pretty much all the features i already have for $45 with tax not to mention they pay up to $250 dollars credit for cancellation fee's from another carrier.
The only thing that was stopping me from going to bell is Telus's customer service. But after the last 2 calls i made i think that has gone to the sh!!ter too...

Bells customer service has really stepped up over the past few years. I find them better now ( a lot better) than when I first signed with them 7 years ago.
And BB user have a different number to call than normal voice users.

They realized their service was losing them a lot of customers.
All call centers I've reached at canadian too. East coast, mississauga and BC.

Cause it seems other carriers out there have better deals right now... | Then only way to get rid of your system access fees is to sign a new 3yr with Telus on their newer plans.

If you update or renew to the 'No System Fee' contract, you will see the normal fees are slightly higher, so there is no savings. And before anyone else beaks off about the competition not having any with better rates, Telus is just following in their footsteps. They did the same thing too.

Call Telus' Loyalty and Retention. If you've been with Telus for a while, you may be able to get them to give you a pretty good deal (e.g. free caller ID or other perks), etc., and you do not have to sign up for a new 3 year contract with the new plans. You can simply continue with your current contract, just change your plan.
But that's the only way to drop the system access fee, period. And for those who are saying to switch to Bell, you'll get a plan without a system access fee, but that's because they don't have plans with system access fees anymore (same thing with Telus - all the new plans don't have system access fees).

Don't bother calling LR, you will not get offered a better plan with no saf. If you have a good retention plan, hang onto it. Telus Retention has not been too generous with free features lately for long-term customers.

I've done fine with them recently... Mind you, I don't ask to ridiculous amounts of freebies. I go in with reasonable requests and typically manage to work something out.

You can also figure out the current plans available on the website and what would closely match to your existing plan and find the difference. If the gap is pretty large, I wouldn't expect retentions to throw all that in for free, especially data.
The best thing you could do is to call in (perhaps several times) and see what they can work out for you. Try to avoid mentioning competitor rates or threaten to leave I've always noticed you get a lot more mileage out of the rep if you're courteous even if what they offer doesn't look appealing to you. And like the previous poster mentioned, be reasonable in asking for freebies.

No, I wouldn't mention competitors pricing or threaten anyone even though i might actually do it. The Freebies i want are just the ones i already have and they are the ones who offered it to me. I never once called in and asked for a freebie. They called me several times and said because i was a loyal member blah blah blah so i was pretty happy with them saying that.
Im gonna call Monday and see what kind of response i get. Anyone know the number to the Loyalty line or whatever its called?
