Default horribly built 9700.. will telus give me a replacement?

Hi, I have had my Bold for about 2 months now and the trackpad is sinking in more and more, and the bezel is getting more and more squeaky. The trackpad also makes a horrid squeak noise when I press it. It is so crooked that its hard to use it to navigate upwards. Does anybody have any idea what telus will do for me? I don't want to be waiting a long time to get the phone repaired.

They won't give you a new one as it's past one month. I ran into the same problem and was more than little upset. I must say though, the refurb I was sent was rock solid and light leak proof, couldn't tell it was a refurb. Couldn't have been happier with it.

It is within one year, so they will send it off to be fixed..... but then you get a dumb phone loaner and other bs that goes with it.

A refurb replacement is your best option IMO

It will be sent off to be fixed? That's not what Telus does. They issue a refurbished phone. I don't know the last time Telus fixed a BlackBerry and then sent it back to the user. It's almost always a refurb. The only exception might be for software issues, in which case, they may be able to fix it in store.

Telus changed their policy plan recently in March or April. They were losing big bucks giving people refurbished blackberry's so now they're going to send back the phones to be fixed and then sent back to TELUS. This takes approximately 4-6 weeks and as for the case of my Tour 9630, they gave me loaner BlackBerry 8330e **** bricks for CDMA and I believe for HSPA phones, their lowest model is the Bold 2 9700. Worst experience of my life with the 8330e, I almost got used to the side wheel.

So do you guys think they will simply replace the phone with a refurb, or send it off to get fixed? Is it possibly that they may say its not a big enough problem since outside of poorly built hardware, it works fine?

Replace it with a refurb. 99% guaranteed.

They will not send you a refurb....what they will do is send it out for repair...if it was within the first 30 days you could swap it for a new one!

They also changed the policy not because of losing money, but rather most users would end up having another issue with the refurbished unit so that's why they stopped that program...it's good in a way and bad for people that use to swap it out all the time or swap it when they were going to sell it to another person to look as if it was new!
