Default Free Data with Social Plan?

Hi , I got a Social networking plan with telus for 40 dollars a month. I have a Curve 8530 with wi fi. I have access to facebook and everything. But I also have access to the internet in non-wifi areas. It is weird considering I dont have a date plan. I was watching you tube and everything. I called telus and they said it should have come up that you will be charged and it never. they said they are surprised I could go on anything else but FB, BBM and the other social things. They said if nothing comes up on your bill, you can access data for free. I found it strange. I got my bill and it said "data used amount" (and there was data used) and it said charged: $0. Anybody find this weird? is there a browsing plan separte from data with the social plan? any help would be great.

Interesting, that's for sure. Just be careful because if they figure out the mistake (it's likely a setting somewhere), you could end up getting charged from the time that they "flip the switch."

^^ agreed. That or a bad SOC code that allows free/unlimited data when it unintentionally sends out the browser service book :P

I've been wondering what speeds do you guys get when browsing I myself am benefitting from a similar situation, but as compared to my girl friend's 8900 running with rogers (edge) I'm considerably slower. Note I am using a rogers Bold 9000 but with a lil configuring running nicely on Telus... So yeah how do your web pages load??

I have a similar situation: I have a plan with email and IM only, but no data/application usage. I can use the browser, but it is not using Blackberry Browser; instead it is Telus WAP Browser that does not utilize RIM's network for internet access. It also means web pages are not compressed by RIM and makes browsing slow on non-mobile sites. Applications also seem to work on it like facebook, google maps, bolt browser, etc.

I have had this for over a year without any data charges. Nonetheless, I would monitor your monthly billing in case of any unexpected charges.
