Default cannot get internet on unlocked curve 9300..

Hey guys, i recently lost my 8530 curve (no SIM.. on CDMA) SO i just bought a used 3g curve 9300 which was locked on rogers, so i unlocked it and bought a sim from telus, i put the sim in and went onto my online account and updated my device by adding the sim, i was able to make calls but had zero internet, i am on an unlimited data plan (student 50), so i know u cant have these on the new network, but would this completely disable me from getting internet? when i check the iemi # on the telus site it says the phone is not compatible.. but its the new curve which ive heard several people use on telus from other carriers.. so if i get a plan with a data cap should my internet work, or do i need to do other things? when i called in the guy said NO unlocked phones work on telus.. sounds like bsssss. thanks guys

The plans can most likely be the problem as you said some of the older plans are not compatible with the newer phones data-wise. I have had this issue before and a simple plan switch resolved the issue for me.

Unlocked phone will work on Telus, just the system may not recognise it as a valid IMEI. As well you may need to load service books manually into the 9300 for it to work as well.

Either maybe the problem to why your internet is not working

Aznlgcy is right. The old Student 50 is not compatible with the HSPA + network .. You will need to switch to a current data plan .. Unfortunately no more unlimited.

You probably also need to manually add the APN. Search on howardforums.com for it, it starts with "bb.telus.com"
