| | The Wonderlands of Tmo.
I went to tmobile this afternoon to upgrade to 9700 and to my surprise they had smartphone BOGO going on. I was helped by Kyle, who was GREAT and very informative. Kyle went on to tell us their the only tmo store in Hawaii doing the BOGO and proceed to help my wife find a phone, she ended settling on the Cliq XT and of course I got the 9700. Kyle said b/c we're getting the XT we'd have to pay $200 b/c it's a newer phone and the 9700 would be free, I said I'm fine paying $200 since we'd get the 9700 free. I then asked him about the required $30 blackberry plan and told him that we have a family plan, he immediately told me "don't worry about it, let me see what I can do." To make a long story short we ended up paying $129 for both phone, we only need to get a data plan for my wife's line ($25.00), and didn't need to upgrade the data plan on my line.
TMOBILE is the BEST. I will never leave tmo unless they stop existing. |

T-Mobile might be amazing on the beautiful Hawaiian Islands but here on the mainland, its a whole other story.
Have fun with your new Berry!

Don't be surprised they still bill you $30 for the data plan because it's required that you get it with a blackberry and then you will find "Kyle" pretending he's never seen you before...

If that happens I can just call retentions and have them fix it. I was just impressed with his patience and helpfulness. Its always busy @ that tmo store; I've had past experience with other workers and their unwillingness to really help and history w/rushing me.

That's cool that you got the Bold 9700. I have one and it's great,
Just make sure to check the data plan. I have one for 35/month but that includes messaging and I can never take it off until my contract is up. I got my Bold for 129 and now I need to pay for data. I wouldn't be surprised if you have to do the same too.

Some representatives will give you wrong information. Just don't be surprised if you have to dish out $30 a month. I don't mind paying that $25 per month since it gives me unlimited data. I'm happy with TMO and I'm sure you are also.

I agree with the others; you can expect to be charged $30/month for data on both of your lines. The requirement for a data plan is in the fine print of the paperwork T-Mobile gives you. In summary, it says that if you acquire a smart phone, you'll have a data plan automatically added to your account. The addition of the plan is automatic; if a rep doesn't add it, the billing system will do so automatically.
As far as calling rententions, lately, they've been much harder on issues like this. They'd likely allow you to send back the device, no charge, but I'm doubtful that they'll allow you to keep the device without a data plan.
Best of luck, and please keep us posted. Quote:

Yep I am with everyone else. I also get charged 30 smacks for my data on 2 phones, so essentially 60 a month for me, which turns out is 20 more dollars than my home internet on two desktop and 1 laptop computer..... Oh well, I has to have my netz at work, lol!
Also not sure what that guy is talking about you having good luck in Hawaii and he isn't on the mainland. I have had nothing but great CS from T-Mobile and this is the 3rd year with them. I have been with every other major cell company minus Verizon and have used a couple 3rd party companies as well and this has been the best experience with a cell provider yet!
Good luck and enjoy your 9700! I love mine as well.... |

You will have to pay the $30 a month on both phones, it will not be a surprise. Retentions can't do anything for you since it's a requirement.

Well I just I'll wait and see. I've heard of people saying they get billed the $30 and in one call have it changed. I'm still happy about the service I received and the new bb.
On that note I won't be surpised if I see $30, I rather pay that amount then what pther carriers are charging.
