Default Why is this possible?

So I recently purchased an 8900 from NorrisCell and it's been working great and is providing better functionality than I expected. The SIM that's in the phone has no BIS nor a data plan, but I'm pretty much able to do whatever on WiFi (besides push email). I know you can browse through the hotspot browser, but I can send/receive MMS, download OTA, and even use AppWorld. Is this is a glitch of some sort...because everything I've read tells me the things I mentioned besides browsing cannot be done unless you have BIS.

You must still have the service books to allow your phone to do this. That's the only thing I can think of to allow you to do this.

Oh yeah...that makes sense. I checked and I do have the MMS and WiFi Transport service books.

My phones are magical, what can I say?

Seriously, I'm not sure why that works. The phone was powered on only to be updated to 5.0, and I didn't backup anything during the update, so it's literally 100% fresh. As mentioned above, enjoy it for as long as possible. Glad the phone's working out for you.

Lucky you! Have fun with it as long as you can! *giggle* once those SBs are gone, they're gone, and if you don't have a data plan, you can't get them back.
