Default Why do we have to extend our contract to switch to the $10 data plan?

Just called Tmobile to switch to the $10 data plans and they said I had to extend my contract for 2 years in order for that to happen. What gives? I asked people all around here and they said the contract extensions are not required. So who's lying here?

That is part of the promotion. In order to get the discounted rate on the data plan you must switch to one of the new promo plans and agree to sign a new 2 year contract on all lines on that account. Keep in mind that doing this will not affect your upgrade tenure.

You can get the same data for $15 if you don't want any contract extension
