Default who has the $7.99 insurance?

i have it--- and just found out the differences...

$8 is a lot, but I mean if that gives you a life time warranty AND covers water/physical damage, why not?

then again, in all the 12 or 14 blackberrys i've had i've never not once had any water or physical damage happen.... hmm

thoughts?

I'm in the same boat and have pondered this argument to myself ever since I picked up the 9900 a month ago. I never had the insurance before but I figured it was a good idea. Like you though I have never damaged any of my phones beyond the occasional drop. I know the day I cancel the insurance something catastrophic will happen to my phone.

I had it when it was $5.99 but when I got a letter from Asurion that they were raising the price to $7.99 a month I cancelled it on all of the three BBs I had on the account. I take care of my phones so I don't really need it. The one I was worried about was my niece but she's been okay without it. It's just a peace of mind when you have it.

It also covers loss. I was rushed getting off a train in Europe and lost a Blackberry. Got a replacement refurb for $100 deductible. So I guess $100 per year for year for piece of mind. May not be worth it on a Curve that you can get for around $300 to $350, but for a Bold at $500 to $599 it's a little piece of mind.

Squaretrade for me. I paid like $30 for my latest.

My most expensive was for my playbook at $106.09, but that's for 3 years and Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) coverage.

I only get the insurance if I have an expensive phone. If its something cheap I wouldn't bother and would use eBay as a last resort or just hold out with a cheap flip phone until I could afford something just as good or better.

I had it until I realized it was 130.00 deductible for the 9900. Theoretically if your phone breaks 1 year and 1 day after you bought it (bb warranty up) you would have paid 96.00 (8.00 a month) plus the 130.00 deductible = $226 for a refurbished phone. At 2 years its even crazier at @ $322.00.

Unless you're very accident-prone AND it's a very expensive phone (Bold versus Curve), I don't actually think it's that worth it. I would just get the extended warranty (that is 1.99/month) and that's all. If you take very good care of your phone, have it in a great case, and aren't apt to leave it somewhere when you're rushing/drunk, then you should be fine.

It's the same as any insurance. None of it's worth it till you need it!

If I'm not mistaking you can add the 4.79 insurance to any phone even an at&t phone unlocked overseas etc but when you file the claim they swap you to the comperable T-mobile unit.
