I just retired my 8900 after 2 years so I know the feeling lol. T-Mobile just got the Blackberry Bold 9780 which is pretty cool. No one knows yet when any of the rumored Blackberries will be available. The Dakota looks pretty sweet. I'd imagine this July at the earliest.

I went from 8900 to 9780... Welcomed improvement, so tired of trackball.

Yes, the trackballs that constantly malfunction get junked up and are such an old technology...

    Bring back the spin wheel!

Love my trackpad. Couldn't imagine going back to the ball...wheel, maybe, lol!

I know trackballs can get stuck and junked up in due time, however....I think that at least with the trackball BB's you can get replacement kits and just keep on using it....if you have a trackpad model on the other hand...once your warranty is up...you pretty much have to get a whole new phone because you cant just "pop" out a trackpad and replace it. Make sense????

    1) You can still replace a trackpad, it just requires a little more dis-assembly. At that point, its not like its going to void your warranty anyway.

    2) you are much less likely to need to replace a trackpad so ease of replacement isn't as important of an issue.

A T-Mo Rep told me today to watch for something new next week. I'm not holding my breath because if he knew that someone already would have said something about it!

Saw that T-Mo could possibly be launching the "Next Gen Curve, Bold Touch, and Storm 3" later this year, along with a Wi-Fi only PlayBook. I think it was on Tmonews.com where I saw it.

Trackball sucks and I hope it never comes back.

I wish RIM wouldn't be so cheap with the RAM. Put 1gb already.

It's going to be awhile, I think. RIM really needs to step their game up and come out with new phones more often. I made the jump to a white 9780 from my old 8900 and I'm in love. I have no idea why people have so much trouble with the trackball, or the trackpad. I love both, but I think the trackpad is a little easier to use. Didn't have the problems with my 8900's trackball others have had, though.

I agree T mobile has me a little disappointed. I am also due for a upgrade from my 8900 which I love but am getting really tired of the trackball. Currently t mobile has nothing in the bb line that I am liking. I dont want to leave either my bb or tmobile becasue none of the carriers can beat the deal I currently have with them. I too am hoping that a torch is coming tmobiles way. that would be great. I do have til Aug to wait fro my upgrade so who knows what is up til them I swill keep checking, but if there is nothing I like i will keep my trusty 8900 until they get something that interests me.

I honestly don't see T-Mobile launching any new BBs until after Verizon's influx of new BBs in Q2-Q3. That said, the 9780 will be the only option for those looking to upgrade (like myself). It's a kick @$$ phone, but I have a feeling as soon as I make a commitment to upgrade or perhaps switch to a new service, then several new products will be on the market. Technology...as much as one tries to stay up to par, he"s always just a step behind. Sad truth!

Tell me about it! My upgrade eligibility was in Jan. But I'm holding out for the Dakota. Currently have my 9700 running os6 so no need to waste the upgrade on the 9780-thats just stupid. Tmo really needs to step their game up! Imm sick and tired of them standing by while all of the other carriers throw their hats in the RIM bucket! If it wasn't for the deal I'm gettn, I'd be ghost right over to verizon

There have been many rumors posted on this forum and over on TMO news that TMO will be getting the new storm 3, the bold touch and the new curve. The Playbook will also be released by TMO according to the rumors being posted. Supposedly the GSM versions of all the phones will precede the CDMA version so think May/June/July not August/September.
