Default What is the "@ year upgrade" price of the 9700?

I'm currently in the "more than one year, less than 2" zone on my contract and If I go to the "My Tmobile" page it shows a price of $249.99. I thought that smartphone users could upgrade at the lowest price after a year, which for the 9700 would be 99.99. Anyone know what the deal is on that? Does the website not know about the "1 year for smartphone users" thing?

Your best bet would probably be to call up tmobile and speak to the loyalty department/sales dept.

You don't get the lowest price until you are in month 22 of your contract.
It appears that right now you are getting $200 off the non-contract pricing.

It is generally 2 years for your contract to run it's full course. I think if you are a first year customer T-Mo gives you maybe a year trial period or offer a special.

General rule is that after 2 years with T-Mo then you can be eligible for a new phone at a discounted price.

Back in the day it was usually a great discount...sometimes you even got FREE phones say if you downgraded from a Expensive model to a cheaper model or the same model.

Nowadays T-Mo is really tight and the best discounts are usually still pricey say if you want to upgrade from the 8900 to the 9700 like me. My contract offer gets me the 9700 for about $215 or the 8900 for $150. I think that is what is on my T-Mobile Page. Still it is better than $499 for a new berry.

OP,

I know what you're talking about...T-Mobile has a new upgrade policy. It used to be that smartphone owners could upgrade to another smartphone after 12 months. However, from what I've heard on this forum, the policy has changed to 18 months. Now you have to wait 18 months to see that full discount price.

I'm at 14 months on a fam plan with 2 BB's. According to 2 reps I spoke with a couple weeks ago over the phone, 2 9700's would cost me $129 per phone to upgrade.

Im in the same exact boat. Over a year into my two year contract...

I love my 8900, it has been a reliable work horse for me, but with all of these new phones coming out I just want a change. I see the Bold 9700 on My Tmobile for $200+ and thats just not gonna happen. Im holding on to hope that if I wait out the remainder of my contract I will get a nice upgrade offer for a new BB that may come out next year... Here's to hoping I guess!!

I want to upgrade myself, but I think I am still about 6-7 months out. More than likely I'll just wait until I file my taxes next year and do an upgade then. Besides, by that time they'll likely have the Garminphone marked way down or an even better BlackBerry (OS6, maybe?) will be available.

I have been eligible for an upgrade for several months, but I'm waiting to see
what new BBs will be available this year for T-Mo.

TMO had a customer appreciation week back in April. I could have upgraded from my 8900 to the 9700 for cheap, but it would have extended my contract. So, like TA, I'm waiting to see what else comes along, cause the processor, Trackpad, and 3G did little to entice me. Love my 8900.

I"m hoping they pick up the Pearl 3G. I have a feeling that is my next BB.

When I upgraded back in Jan I was told smartphone uses could upgrade every 12 months. Has that changed?
