Default Warranty exchange WTF

So my brother had an issue with his Sensation 4G (creaking issues) and somehow Tmobile sent him an Amaze 4G.

I have the same issues with my Sensaton plus rebooting often and they only offered to switch mine with a MyTouch 4G Slide.

The Amaze is much more similar to the Slide. I like the Sensation but the build quality issues are an obvious issue which aren't present on the Amaze.

How can I talk Tmobile into letting me switch for an Amaze 4G?

I just spoke to a rep again and they said they can only offer the MyTouch Slide as a replacement. I keep getting the same asnwers from them. How was my brother offered an Amaze 4G as a warranty replacement yet I'm stuck with the MyTouch slide as mine? I've read all over the XDA forums that Sensation owners have been offered Amaze 4g phones as replacements. Just like the guy in this vid. HTC Sensation vs HTC Amaze - First Impressions - YouTube

So are the reps lying to me when they say they can't offer the Amaze 4G as a warranty exchange because according to my brother, the guy in that vid and ppl on various forums, that is false.

That ticks me off! I had numerous problems with my Sensation, had numerous warranty exchanges for other Sensations, and finally when I had enough and requested a different device to break the cycle of warranty replacements they only offered me the G2x. I had tried the G2x for a couple days and it had HORRIBLE bugs (such as rebooting, not being able to register sound, not being able to turn on right away when asleep, and a faulty video recorder button). They said the G2x was my ONLY option. I ended up buying an Amaze at full cost and selling my Sensation. I LOVE the Amaze (only issue I'm getting is light bleed at the bottom) and I wish I could've gotten it as a warranty replacement for my faulty Sensation(s).

I'd call up retentions and tell them just what you told us.

Well after losing a few bids on eBay I found a 'Buy it now' one for $400. The person apparently has only owned the phone for a month and they have 100% feedback. This is my first time buying a phone online. I should have it by this weekend.

I like my Sensation but the build quality issues, reboots, and now crappy battery life after the latest update and lack of memory led me to the Amaze.

I just put my Sensation up on eBay as well.

I hope it works out for you! I've never bought a device on ebay/craigslist, but I've sold several of my old ones. I have to warn you, the Amaze battery life is pretty crappy . Other than that, though, this phone is pretty much what the Sensation should have been. the UI is so much more fluid than the Sensation, and build quality seems to be better as well. Plus the cameras (both ffc and back) are a lot better.

I honestly dont think you would have been disappointed in the mytouch4G slide. It is basically an older verison of the Amaze minus keyboard. I would have gotten it over my mytouch4G, but ended up getting a heck of a deal on the all touch 4G, so went with the savings and 6 months later, still happy.

Hope your deal goes through flawless with the Amaze. Good luck!

I actually got a new battefy cover in the mail last week and the build quality issues are nonexistent now. My Amaze came in from eBay today and I compared the two. I like both but the Amaze felt a little bulky after having used the Sensation for months. Build quality was the same on both. Speed was the same/didn't notice any difference. But the Amaze was a little thicker and slightly longer which made it feel bigger. I decided to stay with the Sensation and am selling the Amaze back for around $400 on eBay.

The mytouch 4g slide isn't bad but I don't want a slider. I factory reset my Sensation and haven't experienced any issues yet. The new battery door also solved the build quality gripe, which the Amaze has as well since both use the same type of casing and material.

So in the end I've kept my Sensation and the new battery door has fixed my build quality gripe. The only real complaint is that battery life is worse after that last update but from what I've heard, there are numerous roms out with good battery life.

Glad you made a choice. I am actually wondering if I should even dive into a new Android or any new phone right now as my contract is up in February.

I honestly don't see that much of a difference from my mytouch4G to a lot of the newer phones besides a hair quicker, little bigger screen and a hair thinner. Really not enough to warrant 300 dollars and a new 2 year contract.

See how I actual feel come February, lol!
