    Default Using Sprint's Bold 9930 on T-Mo?

A friend of mine currently has an older Bb on TMo. Will my Sprint's Bold work on TMo's network? I think the Sprint device has a sim slot? He needs to be able to use bbm and internet, which he currently can with his older Bb.

Yes. Once unlocked, he can theoretically use it on T-Mobile's 2G network. I say 'theoretically' and not 'definitely' because sometimes CDMA devices don't work too well on GSM networks.

Probably around 150-350 kbps, depending on location and market.

300kbps is not bad considering im only getting 200kbps with Sprint during peak hours.

Check out this map for your specific region. Don't forget to switch the tab to 2G/voice.
