Default Using Old BB Temporarily?

My wife's Motorola V2 went out on her. T-Mobile no longer offers this phone. We took her SIM card and put it in my old 8700g so she could at least have a phone to make and receive calls. She gets a message telling her that she can only make emergency calls from the 8700g. Is there something we should be doing to allow the 8700g to make (and receive) regular calls? This would be temporary until she decides on a new phone.

Have you tested the SIM card in a third phone? What about your SIM card in the 8700? What you're describing points to one of two outcomes. Either the 8700 has gone bad or her SIM card has gone bad.

Thanks so much for your response. It is working now; apparently she did not seat the SIM card correctly. Just something to tide her over until we decide whether to leave T-Mobile or not. Thanks again.

Outcome #3 was the winner.

Not necessarily such a bad thing. The 8700 has to go down in history as one of BlackBerry's classiest products. I know lots of people who still swear by their 8700s and won't give them up. Heck, I believe T-Mobile still sells them new.

She may find she loves the 8700. Sure beats her old Moto.
