Default Upgrading In April But I have 2 Questions...

#1. Are the trackpads on the new BBs replaceable? my hands sweat a lot and have to replace my 8320's track ball every 3months
#2. What's the difference between EDGE and 3G ?

#1 As there are no parts taking sweat, dust, etc down under the surface there should not be any issue like the trackball.

#2 When comparing EDGE and 3G you are looking at a max of 200kbps for EDGE and 384kbps for 3G under ideal conditions, however, my EDGE Berry loads as fast as my wife's Cliq on 3G.

Whoa, that's way off on the 3G speeds. I've done speed tests showing ~1100 kBps on 3G devices. If your BB is loading anywhere near as fast as the CLIQ, your wife has a problem

To clear up my use of data, I went with the data rates saying that 3G boasts speeds of up to 2Mbps, although users will typically see speeds in the 300Kbps-to-400Kbps range.

You are using the theoretical max on EDGE and the real world average download on 3G. They are two very different benchmarks.

And you are right. I am no way argueing that EDGE is better than 3G. However, with in my opinion, with speeds at my location with two different units, one with 3G and one without, I do not see a significant difference that would make me drop my 8520 for a 9700 (yet). You know more than me on this Norris, and I am not trying to discredit your info. Just trying to relate to how I see it.
