There are I think 2 .cod modules for myfaves, and also a couple of entries in the service books. You can always check your loaded modules in options or try reloading your service books and see what happens.
I actually deleted the myfaves from my .231 install by using crackmem. I never change the myfaves selections anyway, but I can always change them by logging onto mytmobile if I decide to. Not having the myfaves module on my phone does not change the way myfaves are charged.

If it's not a T-Mobile version of the software, you may have issues getting the myFaves interface. As skyboxer said, you can adjust your faves on your online account and they will be charged accordingly. Try doing a battery pull and a SIM pull and putting everything back together. It will reset your data and scan for the nearest tower, this may trigger your myFaves. If not, call Customer Care and tell them to make sure your myFaves client is turned on and to refresh the contacts for you.

I'm confused. Wouldn't a non T-Mobile OS never have MyFaves? Wouldn't the OS have to be written by T-Mobile to include the code for MyFaves?

I have unlimited minutes so I always just delete the MyFaves coding whenever I get a new BB.

Default If you're still having trouble

You need to download and install the newest software update. I had the same problem and BB fixed the issue and some battery drain issues with the latest update (4.6.1.231)

The myfaves is still on your account you will just have to login to my t-mobile to make any changes. Also remember who the five are so you know when you call them.
