Default Upgrade - Payment Plan

I know I've used it in the past, but is T-Mobile still doing a payment plan for upgrading to to new phones?

I would like to upgrade my wife's phone for Christmas which is available for upgrade on 3 December. But I can't necessarily put up the cash for the new phone (HTC-Sensation).

I think a couple of years ago, I upgraded the phone across 4 billing cycles.

Anybody done this recently or have they eliminated that option?

I believe they no longer do the four payment plan anymore. If I am not mistaken, they changed that mid-year. I think now they do 20 payments but you have to put some money down then the rest will be spread across 20 months. I believe also that you have to change to their newer plans to take advantage of that. I am not sure but I'm sure someone knows and they will correct me. I'd like to know also because I'm eligible for a full discount now since my contract ends December 31st.

Armando's right about the billing cycle payment plan being discontinued. Also, that 20 month payment+down payment is for Value plan customers. That being said, on December 3rd, you should see the discounted price. After the upgrade discount, I see the HTC Sensation for $200 w/ a 2 year extension and $500 without an extension/if bought before upgrade kicks in.YMMV on the prices.

I figured as much. As I did some digging around yesterday as well.

My followup question:

We have the 700 minute family plan with 4 lines, 2 Blackberry Data (grandfathered $20/month), and unlimited texting for all phones. I would like to change to the current family plan which includes 1000 minutes, unlimited texting , and 2 data plans (combined 2GB data) and save myself around $30/month.

My wife's line is due Dec 3, I'm due Dec 24, and the other 2 lines middle of next year. Is it possible to change all the plans to the new plan on Dec 3rd and save some money?

You should be able to change plans this close to your contract ending. Just call T-Mobile CS, and say cancel when prompted to say something. This will take you to Retentions, and they can do a lot of things regular CS can't, including offering grandfathered plans and further discounts on handsets. If you say it's a current plan, should be no problem. Your carrot is a new 2 year contract, and the stick is you guys walking away.
