Red face Upcoming contract renewal: no funds for new phone

My two-year TMo contract is up in May.

Due to financial constraints, I won't be able to purchase a new phone until July or August. I am likely going from current Pearl 8120 to a Bold or better.

While I'm very happy with TMo, if they don't have the product or prices I like, I have no hesitation to move to Verizon or ATT.

So, what do I do between austere May to more-abundant July? Will TMo allow me to delay my contract renewal and device upgrade?

Any recommendations for a retailer near Orlando?

Muchas gracias!!

your still locked into your current prices no matter what, just wait it out until july and go to the store and resign to get the new phone then.

An upgrade/contract renewal is not a requirement. There is no expiration date. You can continue on a month-to-month setup and will not see any change to your service or bill. You can hold out as long as you like before doing an upgrade

Plus going over to ATT or VW you still gonna have to buy a new phone, with tmobile you can put some down on the price of the phone and add the rest to your bill in monthly payments.

Not pushing you to leave T-Mobile (I find they are the cheapest, and have okay coverage) but if you check out Amazon, you can find the Bold 9700 for FREE if you sign up for a new two year contract with other carriers. Do your homework, though... As awesome as the phone is, it's not worth switching to a worse carrier for two years!

The longer you keep a non-contract rate the better.
My rates from when I was on Omnipoint are 1/2-2/3 the current new rate plan.
I still have grandfathered BB pricing from two years ago.
It is cheaper to purchase an unlocked phone then to purchase on a new contract and purchasing the phone from the phone company.
Total your cost for the contract period and compare with your current rate and those of other carriers. Do not compare on a month by month basis.
