Default unlocked blackberry bold 9000 question

Hi,

If I was to get an at&t branded Blackberry Bold 9000 that's unlocked, would I be able to use BIS/data with just adding the web2go feature on T-Mobile for $10? Or would I have to get the Blackberry plan for $30/month?

I've read several posts from people that use the web2go feature with their unlocked iPhones and Nexus Ones. So I was just seeing if the same can be done with an unlocked Blackberry.

Thanks for your help!

No you will not be able to use BIS w/o the Blackberry data plan. Web2Go does not give yo BIS access.

You need the $30 plan and you will not have UMA with 9000.

If I got the BB 9700 bold and signed up with the $30 plan, would I be able to use UMA? UMA is free. Right? It doesn't require adding an additional per month feature to my account?

When in UMA mode, would I also be allowed to use BBM, the browser, and send sms messages?

The 9000 does not have the hardwear or softwear for UMA.

Correct. 9700 has UMA hardware, but the 9000 does not. On T-Mobile, UMA is free, as in it will only count against your normal call minutes and texts, but there won't be other charges
When in UMA, data works as normal.

Just to clarify about the web2go thing, BB features won't work on that. To get things like push email/BBM, you need a Blackberry-specific data plan so that the device can communicate with RIM servers.

The BB plan would work fine with the 9000 but you wouldn't be able to use UMA, nor 3G. (Because ATT's 3G bands in the 9000 do not match T-Mobile's)
