Default Unlocked 8320-saying upgrade

I unlocked by at&t 8320 to use with t-mobile. I am paying for the 10.00 t-mobile data plan and I cannot get on the internet. My TCP is still for at&t.

Do I need to change the TCP address for t-mobile or does t-mobile know I am using a blackberry and wants me to upgrade to the bb service?

Change your APN settings to T-Mobile...

epc.t-mobile.com is the one to use.

You will get basic net (like via Opera or something) but no push email or BBM.

You're not on a BB plan so web is going to be limited.

Have you downloaded Opera Mini?

You'll need to download it when you're on wifi or something.

It's a browser. It's free. I'm using it right now in fact. It's very fast and works with any data.

Having a BB w/o a data plan isn't easy though, you'll have to do a lot of work arounds. If you want it to be easy, I'd just get the BB data plan and use it.

Downloaded Opera Mini and it works perfectly for my work wifi, which we are blocked from social sites and I can now get fb. Bad news is it still doesn't make my tmobile data work.

Now what do I need to try?

Did you set the APN settings correctly to tmobile?

You may want to try other APN settings...
wap.voicestream.com comes to mind...

hate to say it, but a bb data plan is the only way to go! while transferring data via wifi, you will still be using data from the carrier....believe me..i know(300 data bill..yuck)

I went to Opera Mini's help and it has three different T-Mobile settings options. T-mobile (web, Blackberry), T-mobile (Internet), T-mobile (VPN) and there are different APN's for each and then for DNS, DNS, and Proxy address and port.

I am not sure which T-mobile option to choose to use the correct APN setting and I don't know where the DNS and proxy address and port goes.

No, you fix the APN through your BB, not Opera...

Settings > Options > Advanced > TCP/IP

Enter in the APN and enable it. No authetication needed.

I would do that and then run a "network test" on Opera mini to determine the right connection for the internet.

If this doesn't work, please let me know so I can do additional research for you. There's a solution here somewhere.

I got this one going, somehow, someway! Now I am having issues with my 8110 and that browser gone when the tmobile sim was inserted and it's an att phone. I have a thread on that one, but thanks for all your help...it worked whatever I did with all your help.
