Default uninstalling myfavs

I never use the app and I'm tired of the icons next to peoples names. Is there a way I can uninstall it without reinstalling the whole OS?

Couldn't find the answer in a forum search.

Do you have myFaves on your plan? If not, you shouldn't have the icons anywhere.

I used to have a myfaves plan and I found the icons really annoying too. Go to applications (or whatever) and go to the myfaves app. Make sure that it's set to NOT show the icons on your home background and then hide the app all together.

I looked for the same answer a couple months ago and the only way I found was to wipe and reinstall

Theres a signal that TMo CS can send to your phone to disable it, but the next time you restart the phone, it will come back and bring one or two popup notifications with it

If you find another way please post it up

You don't have to completely wipe your OS from the phone. All you have to do is install the OS to your computer, remove the net_rim_tmo_five files from the Java folder and run DM > App Loader.

Download a program called maxmem. Run a search on this site. I've done this and I'm good to go. Be careful removing any theme if you are using a 3rd party app. Deleting the theme with 100 in the name is the tmobile theme, and you can delete that one. But deleting any of the other ones might stop your 3rd party theme from working

Also, I went into my media player, hit menu and pressed explore. Go to device memory, pictures. There should be a folder for myfaves icons. You can delete that folder too.

Reinstalling a whole OS can take time. I wouldn't do it just to get rid of my-faves. Maxmem is much faster, just don't get carried away.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, I wasn't clear for the media part.

When you go to explore from media player, go to device memory. I don't remember if you go to home->user->pictures or samples->pictures to find the my faves icons.

You're welcome. Also, to remove the myfaves images that are in your media, you will want to remove the two files net_rim_bb_medialoader_100_five_icon_library and net_rim_bb_medialoader_114_five_icon_library.

One question... do you have a myfaves plan? If you do, do not remove the net_rim_tmo_five_lib file.

Exactly.

I do this whenever I get a new Berry.

No interest in My Favs. I have unlimited calling so I will never use My Favs.

Ya I have a fav5 plan.

Having a little trouble. I downloaded and installed 4.6.1.231 from Tmo site, Installed, removed net_rim_tmo_five, deleted vender.xml.... But when I launch the apploader it keeps saying no action required. Never had that happen before.
