Default UMA with unlimited minutes

So read and article on berryreview

Free T-mobile WiFi Calling »

If this is the case I could use UMA without the @home cause I have unlimited minutes so would be pointless to add @home. Does anybody know about this?

UMA uses your broadband connection, but if you leave the house, it won't use it. also some broadbands don't work all that well, so try it before you go cancelling your minutes

Yes you can use your 8900 at any wifi hotspot without paying any extra in money or minutes...IF you have an unlimted plan.

By the way.. I think you have @home and unlimited hotspot confused. @home is the "landline type" service that you use with a regular type phone to get unlimited home phone minutes, long distance, and call waiting and such and it also makes your HOUSE or wherever you hook it up... a hotspot. Unlimited hotspot is the ability to hook up you cell on ANY wifi hotspot without using minutes

Only if you have the appropriate service added to your account like SandAngel explained above.

Bottom line is this:

Whether or not you are connected to UMA you will be charged the same minutes and text as per your regular plan. The only exception to this is if you have the unlimited hotspot plan ($9.99/month) on your account and then you get unlimited minutes only while connected to UMA......texts are still charged at your normal rate.

If you have a 1000 minute plan and no hotspot add-on and you are connected to UMA and make a 10 minute phone call, well then 10 minutes will be deducted from your 1000 minutes. If you have the hotspot add-on and make the same 10 minute call on UMA then you still have your 1000 minutes.

Hope that clarifies it!

IF you have unlimited minutes.....NO minutes or monies are charged. if your wondering WHY... the answer is because it usually charges minutes without a special plan but since your minutes are UNLIMITED..there is no need to worry how many minutes it charges you.

UMA Wifi does NOT include unlimited texting or any texting throught WIFI. YES you can text when on WIFI but you will get charged the regular text rate for the plan you signed up for for texting.

In a nutshell...if you have 8900 and unlimited minutes then just go ahead and change your setting to WIFI preferred(you can talk on WIFI or Edge using this setting) and you use it free for regular voice calls. This comes in handy to strengthen signal in some places and alos will get you signal if there IS NONE, by hooking yo up throug WIFI if there is WIFI near by.

Thanks. I just went on the loyalty family plan for 3 phones so I dropped the 9.99 mobile home thing but I still use the calls on uma for better signal.

I make out cheaper using the REGULAR family plan with the add-ons .

So many people scoop up the unlimited loyalty because they think WOOHOO...without really doing the math and figuring out how much they ACTUALLY use(not referring poster ... just making a general comment)

This information is EXACTLY right.

Lots of confusion and miscommunication about UMA calls across most forums but vdubguy2k has it exactly right here.
