UK USERS: T-Mob Pay as you go and emails?

Yay, so excited, just got my BB last week!

How do I get emails on my Curve 8520? When I try to write one, this is what I get: "No message services configured. You will only be able to Save Draft."

I bought my phone from T-Mobile and I top up a tenner here and there but that doesn't let me get emails on my phone (which is probably obvious to you guys). I've done a bit of Googling and found out that I need a 'data plan' but what is that? And where do I get one, a T-Mobile shop? How do I get rid of "No message services configured. You will only be able to Save Draft"?
