Default Tmobile warranty question

I know this is a little off topic, but here is my situation. Last week I bought a used G1 later the touch screen went out on it. The place where I bought it told me it was under warranty with Tmobile, I called Tmobile they said it's under warranty but they will not transfer the warranty. So basically I'm out of luck the Tmobile rep told me that If I called and threatened to cancel they would replace it. Anyone know if this would work?

If you bought the phone used, you are out of luck as far as getting any warranty the original owner may have had left on the phone. And the place that sold you the used AS-IS, phone, their off the hook, because they sold it as is. They just told you there was warranty left, just to sell it to you. (which by the way happened to work for them). And they may have known there was a problem with the phone, but unless you sales ticket mentions some sort of warranty or exchange, within X number of days, you are stuck with a dead G1.

You *might* try the "I am going to cancel my account!"...routine, but if they say no, you can't blame them for not standing behind a used and possibly abused device.

The G1's warranty information is under the original purchaser. Thus, this is why you can't claim the warranty. You could opt to contact HTC and deal with the manufacturer directly. That may yield better results. T-Mobile can't process the warranty since it will show up as *Warranty Unverified* in our system.

UPDATE:

I politely called Tmobile asked for cancellations. I kindly told the CSR that I would cancel my account if this was not taken care of. no questions asked they are sending me a refurbished G1 should be here by Monday.

I have never had a problem getting a warranty exchange on any used phone (except iphone) on any network.

Every rep I have ever spoken with ensures me that the warranty follows the DEVICE and not the CUSTOMER, just like it should.
