Default tmobile is horrible

I remember why I haven't used tmobiles network since the sidekick 3 lmao. I decided to walk the road of having my own plan in my own name. And being a college student with no credit, tmobile mad my mother proud, but not me. I just sold my iphone 3gs (where I had 3g everywhere in my 1st floor apt.) Tmobile? FAILED. No 3g anywhere around my house, worst part my phone goes SOS in nearly all rooms of my apt. Mind you I'm located in miami, fl. So I had to tell my mother how I'm 2 steps from launching this phone into the pool and I need to have the bold 9700 on att. So after pulling some strings with some att friends I'm just awaiting for my bold to hit my door step in the next few days so I can then return this blackberry to tmobile!

So, an ENTIRE carrier is horrible because it doesn't cover YOUR apartment completely? Wow.

Not every carrier is for everyone.

T-Mobile has UMA which makes up for any coverage issues. So you could have used your home wifi to make and receive calls, texts, and data.

If you want to talk about a truly horrendous carrier, let's talk about AT&T. I won't go into details right now because I'm tired and I know berryite will do a better job of explaining.

Too bad there's such an age difference. Artemis is so cute. LOL.

IS, Artemis has pointed out that not every carrier is for every individual. And she is right. But for most, T-Mobile is a far better carrier than AT&T.

First of all, T-Mobile offers UMA calling. This is the ability to make cell calls through the Internet service right in your own home. Until recently, I lived in a resort area where my home ... much like yours ... got absolutely no cell signal. This wasn't just for T-Mobile but for all carriers. Fortunately for me, I could make all the calls I needed by using T-Mobile's UMA service. If you want to explore this, call T-Mobile customer service.

And by the way, AT&T does NOT support UMA.

Now let's compare AT&T and T-Mobile in general. In general, Verizon and T-Mobile are evaluated as the best carriers in the nation. In general, AT&T is rated as the worst carrier in the nation.

Who says so?

Well Consumer Reports has evaluated AT&T as the worst carrier in the nation for several years in a row.

CNet recently evaluated AT&T's network as seriously broken.

Business Week Magazine also just ran a front-cover article on how terrible AT&T's network is.

Neither Consumer Reports, CNet or Business Week have said anything similar about T-Mobile.

As we've said, no carrier is perfect for everyone. But jumping to AT&T isn't necessarily a smart move. My best friend uses AT&T and loses calls all day long. One of Artemis' good friends has similar problems. I'd recommend that you call T-Mobile and see if they can help with their problem. Oh, and when you call T-Mobile keep another thing in mind ... T-Mobile gets great awards for their good customer service while AT&T has a less-than-stellar reputation for not the best customer service.

I've actually never had a problem with tmo coverage, I've traveled to many places and never had a drop in service. I always thought tmo has better coverage then others.

With that said I'm sorry to hear you had problems with tmo and totally see how it would frustrate you.

Maybe I should chuck my 9700. I don't have 3G at my house. Should I blame T-Mobile for this? Sometimes I have no signal where I live if I don't have UMA enabled. Should I blame T-Mobile?

Wait, I did my research before I bought my Bold. I know what kind of coverage I have in my area. I have no 3G coverage, 2-3 bars of EDGE at best, & I also know that the house I live in has thick walls that T-Mobile's bandwidth will not always penetrate.

Just because you buy a phone from a provider does not mean that you will always be able to enjoy all its goodness if you don't do your research first.

If I am not mistaken, missgina was the one who won the Colorware 9700 in the CB contest.

That sucks you didn't have coverage but did you check first to see how the coverage in your area was going to be???

If you pay for talk coverage I believe its ABSOLUTLY ridiculous to charge an extra 10 bucks to make UMA calls over a wifi signal of your own. Its like saying its ok for them to have a terrible network. Tmo begs for peoples money and entices people with gadgets, they are not a company that people should hand their money to, this is just fact. Their network looks like a prepaid provider networks, and people are so enthralled with how affordable they are, a person who chooses Tmo is not an informed or conscious consumer and deserves all issues they run into. FAIL

Ok I should rephrase everything. Tmobile is horrible for me, and I didn't think the world horrible would be taken so heavily. But it wasn't not having service in my apartment is was everywhere else I was use to having service that I also notice poor reception. But I'm on att again today and happy again lol.

The $9.99 unlimited UMA plan no longer exists so your point is invalid. Anyone with a UMA enabled phone can make a call via WiFi for no cost with T-Mobile. You can't do that with Verizon. BigRed has proven itself to be the biggest consumer fail out there, even more than AT&T imo.
No provider out there is without it downfalls. T-Mobile's 3G network is still anemic and needs serious attention. Cost wise and customer service wise, no one can beat them hands down. I've been deal with providers for 9 years now. T-Mobile is my 3rd provider and I'll stay with them until they cease to exist.

@Shorty

The unlimited UMA plan is just for unlimited min over UMA. But anyone can use UMA...it'll just come out of your bucket minutes.
If I were you, I'd make myself more informed about a company and its offers before launching into a "FAIL" rant.

@K_Bear

I totally agree. I have the Bold and while I love it, I do wish I had 3G. I can understand why its not in my college town, but my home is a relatively populated, rural area near a major city. I get 5 bars EDGE, so why not 3G?
I'm hoping to get it soon! *cross fingers*
