Go to a T-mobile company owned store and ask them. That's what I did with my (late, lamented) Pearl Flip when the Bluetooth died (a common fault on the Flip)

I'm in Boston. Double check where you take your phone. Make sure it is a T mobile company owned store, not an "authorized reseller", the latter tend to be biased towards getting you to "upgrade" your phone. Use the store locator on the Tmo website, i'm pretty sure it makes the difference between the 2 obvious.

HOWEVER. . .
as a point of information when my Wife's Bold went south we couldn't exchange it at the ATT company owned store, we had to go to a service center and exchange the phone there (that's what the folks at the store told us to do). So maybe Tmo in NYC has a similar setup.

in the Seattle Area, the corporate t-mob stores will NOT do a handset exchange. they said you have to go thru CS via phone....
then they charge you 15-20 to ship you a new phone. BS policy

Actually, the quickest and easiest route for this is to set up the exchange via T-Mobile's customer service chat: T-Mobile Support Community: Topic: Chat

I've had to replace handsets a handful of times and I've never had any trouble using this.
