Default Tmobile data issues in Portland

In Portland, OR, my data has been a little wonky for a few days now and on the evening of the 24th I lost it completely. All day today, I have gotten nothing but "network service unavailable" message. Of course it's Christmas so no csr's available. I have tried my sim in three different phones with the same result in all of them. The blackberry's only say GSM instead of edge (no BIS plan just regular data) and my samsung shows full signal and voice works fine but no internet. Anyone have any info on data outages? I know there was a BIS outage early in the week but it was my understanding that the regular data would still work. Thanks

I'm up the road from you in Seattle, and data has been ok for me during the morning and afternoon.

My roomie has a winmobile phone, and has data. So sounds like a possible TMO problem that's local to the Portland area.

So I just got done w a chat w a tmo rep. It seems that they are phasing out TZones, so they just shut my data off on Christmas eve. That was nice of them. He said he could upgrade me for another $4 per month to total access internet or something like that. ( I still have the $5.99 tzones plan.) It ends up he will let me keep my cheap plan but promised that the new one was quicker and would give me full html browsing. I told him that I have already tried my sim in a BB and already had html browsing. I got a credit for my downtime and got to keep my cheap plan. No outage, just tmo trying to make a few extra bucks

Not really, just T-Mobile patching a hole that should have never been there in the first place. The BBs were supposed to have internet AND email, or nothing. They used to offer email only, but the T-Zones access was a glitch.

I got home that afternoon and still no data. Call back to Tech and they suggest I swap my sim. Swapped and still no data but only at home and surrounding area. Call back to Tech and explain that the issue was only at my house and she opened a trouble ticket this afternoon. Got home from work this evening and all is well.

Norris, if I were to upgrade to the 9.99 web plan would there be a difference in speed or any other benefits? Would it even work? No one that was suggesting that I upgrade could tell me any benefit other that html browsing which I can already do, and one rep said it would be faster because i would be getting right on the internet instead of having to go through TZones! I know the reps are just doing as they are instructed by trying to upgrade me, but a couple of them would get downright rude when I refused. Thanks for any info you can share on this.

They shouldn't have even offered it to you, because it won't work. The $9.99 is phone-first internet, which will not work with a smartphone
