| | Tmobile and Blackberry data plan question
Here's my situation.
I am a T-mobile customer and my contract is up at the end of the month.
So, say I renew my contract with Tmobile and get some generic phone and the 9.99 data plan. Then I go and buy a blackberry from ebay or craigslist and insert my Sim into the new blackberry, then does Tmobile find out that I am using a blackberry or can i continue to use the blackberry with the 9.99 data plan and tmobile wouldn't know? If tmobile does find out then does it charge me the 34.99 unlimited plan? I know the above can be done with an unlocked Iphone, but I was just wondering if its the same for blackberry.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

No, they won't change your plan to the 34.99 one.
Be warned though, a generic data plan will not offer all the features that a normal BB plan will. That means no push mail (you'll need a 3rd party app for that), no BBM, and No Blackberry Maps. Some third party apps may not work, but you should be set for most.
If this works for you, then go for it!

if you have no contract, if you have an unlocked BB then all you do is to ask for the $19.95 email and internet BB plan (ask for loyalty customer service rep). DO NOT take a new phone plan under contract. Grandfathered plans are ALWAYS lower than any thing you can currently get. TM will keep your OLD price.
Buying a new phone from the phone company is a TRICK for them to make you sign a new contract at their advantage price.
I still have Omnipoint rates from ten years ago and they never increased the rates since.
TM does not care where you purchased the phone ... all they want to do is sell you their service. Selling their phones is ONLY their way to get you fixed to a contract

| | I have the 24.99 BB plan
If you have been with them for atleast two years and have had the data plan for that amount of time they will or should not change your plan to the higher rate. It is 19.99 plus the 4.99 for the 400 messages. DO as this person suggest and asked for the loyalty customer rep. Good Luck! Quote:

T-Mobile's internet plan is not the same as the BlackBerry data plan. You won't get all the exciting features of a BlackBerry smartphone but you will get the internet browsing probably. Good luck

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | could you please be more specific as to what works with the $10 plan and what doesn't? or is there a link to where i can read up on this..
will apps like facebook, browser, etc work?
i'm fine with no push email, i can just use the gmail app for mail..
so the extra $15 i'm paying per month is just for using maps? i dont even use it that often

if ur using a $10 plan, it has to be the $10 email only plan, nothing else will work since those ports are blocked. you can only use strict push email.
the $25 dollar plan, unlimited BB data and 400 SMS. if u dont SMS at all, or dont use BB data like BB messenger, google maps etc. then you are good with the $10 strict email plan

Also, if you plan on using the wrong data plan, hope nothing goes wrong. T-mo and all the other providers are now requiring the bb plan with all bb's except pearl and pearl flip. If they open up your account on a pc it will force them to change your plan.

CS gave me the Blackberry Feature Enabler free since my Pearl does not receive/send MMS. Right now I have MMS and Browser but no email Push. Will Tmo find out if I register in the BIS for my email Push and charge me the 20? sorry for the hijack...
