Default TMO 9700 Update Soon

Just got word today that 5.0.0.586 will be released within a month or so. I was given the file, but cannot distribute it. It is said to fix UMA handoffs, text issues, and some other bits.

Just a waiting game now

Nice to hear. I use a Mac and can't take advantage of the leaked OS'.

I'm excited to hear this!

I'll be honest, I didn't think we'd see an official update from T-Mobile.

Oh its coming...remember "there will be an update before christmas 2009?" Its just fashionably late!

Seriously, would be nice to see some form of update come down official channels.

No one ever said the patch would be released by the end of 2009. I'm just glad it will be there. As time has gone on, I've had less and less UMA issues. Still haven't been able to test 3G voice yet though.

Norris.....is there any difference between running the "leaked" os .586 and running the "official .586' (once tmo releases it)?

Just curious....i'm forever trying leaks. currently I'm on .593, but am considering downgrading to .586 because i haven't been overly impressed with the UMA handover to/from 3g.

Your input on all of the forums are always greatly appreciated!

Normally, the leaked version is the same as the official one of the same number. The only possible differences are what languages are included, and if (maybe) the carrier decided to bundle anything with it... like, if T-Mobile finally decided to include myfaves or something.

MyFavs is being phased out due to the new unlimited plans. Once you upgrade, you loose your my favs plan. Mobile Back up has been available for quite some time now.

I'm going to load it onto a 9700 and see if I notice a difference.

Will TMO have the East Asian language format in addition to the multi-language format? They didn't have the East Asian one on the stock. Almost every other major carrier in the world have an East Asian Version in additon to their regular format.

Is this really true?

From what I heard, myFaves plans are just grandfathered now and so if you don't change it, you'll still have your myFaves.

I can confirm that you don't lose your myFaves upon upgrading. This is what I did when I upgraded to my 9700 a few weeks ago.

It's nice to hear that T-Mo will be releasing an update soon.

I've been running the leaked .586 for a few weeks now & the only issue I have with it is a very random App Switcher scrolling problem when the browser is open.
