Default Tips on signing the dotted line!

Post below is MY experiances only and is not suggesting any behavior by persons or entities....

I see so many posts all the time where people are saying they didn't get what they thought when upgrading or starting service with Tmobile. It's actually very simple to avoid any confusion or bad feelings by doing a few simple things.......

First off i ALWAYS deal directly with TMO corporate for anything. whether it be a corporate store or the official tmo ile website. If I see it on The website then I call in and get the deal. Basic add ons are fine online but major changes or phone purchases I do over the phone. Tmobile records calls and anything said can be tracked if there is a dispute in the near future. Don't worry... They are very fair and if they listen to the recording and when correct ..... They honor what you were told.... Within reason of course because of course if some crazy operator flipped out and promised you a car you should have known better.

Buying in a local store you should Never be afraid to make notations of promises and plan features in your contract margins. If your promised $20 data then write it in a margin and have salesperson initial. This applies to ANY thing promised that isn't in black and white in the contract. You can also write in things like " all previous contracted pricing and features continue with no changes" just make sure to make a quick precise notation about anything questionable or important and MAKE SURE to have it initialed by both parties.
If a salesperson say you can't do this then WALK AWAY. There is no contract police that comes and arrests you for making notations You will find that anyplace playing it straight with you will not mind you doing this. They might roll there eyes a bit but will initial the notes if they promised you something.

All this doesn't guarantee you anything in the way of a deal that honestly can't be done.... But does give you a leg up on any crazy charges made from misunderstandings with an option to go back to square one and make a new informed decision what you want to do.

First of all, thank you for supporting the corporate stores and customer care, rather than going through indirects. I won't go on a rant here, but going through a corporate store or over the phone with care is a much better choice for many reasons.

As a sales rep, I agree with the portions about store interactions wholeheartedly. Any sales rep who isn't willing to write down what they've promised you should not be trusted. You deserve to have your questions answered about your phone/plan/features. The wireless world can be very convoluted and the customers who are organized and take careful note of what they should have are much easier to help should a problem arise. Working with a rep in store versus over the phone also gives you a face to go to with anything that comes up in the future. I get customers saying "I talked with Mark Z on the phone and he told me (Insert bad information). Can we call him?" The chances of getting back to the same phone rep are approximately zero if there's a dispute that is not explained in the notes.

Be prepared. Do your homework. Double check any info your random friend or coworker gives you before you contact TMO and ask for the $20 unlimited minutes plan (True story, several times over). Find yourself a good rep, and you should never have a problem that cannot be easily resolved.

I forgot to say......

READ READ READ what your signing. Don't rely on what you THINK is in the contract because a rep told you "just sign here".

Yes it's alot of information but TOO BAD if they are in a Rush and pressure you to just sign. If they wanted a speedy deal then they shouldn't have made the contract so LONG! If the contract says something you were told does not apply then STRIKE IT OUT and have it initialed !

I READ EVERYTHING I SIGN start to finish and could care less about all the huffing and eyerolling I get. Whether it's a large contract or a McDonalds credit card receipt it gets fully looked over.

I totally agree.

I always verify a billion times with the rep before I upgrade or anything, lol.

Definitely agree with going to the corporate stores. I don't go anywhere else. When I'm at school, I do everything over the phone cause there is no tmobile store here but I honestly much prefer going to the store.

This is so true. Many don't bother reading the contracts and I'm guilty of that but I know what I'm getting myself into. I double check with the rep before anything to make sure it's understood and I prefer to deal with someone face to face.

Form a relationship with a Corporate store, or better yet, with an employee. There is a man named Nate at our Corporate store. He has been very helpful for our family. He helped me get a replacement for my husband's Pearl Flip when I accidentally washed it. He helped me get a Curve when my Gravity was refusing to work properly. He answered a load of questions for my husband when he moved up to his Samsung Galaxy. He's answered tons of questions for me over the phone. I have referred all my family to him, because he is very personable.

And then I made sure to contact his superior and let them know what good work he's done.

Good info here...I need to read over contracts more as I do feel they pressure you into it. Good thing I have been lucky so far, but this here makes me realize I need to start reading the fine print more.

Not reading the contract before signing is the reason why this country is in the feces right now...

Be ware of 3rd party retailers. Places like Radioshack, Best Buy, and Wirefly can under sell the corporate store our online prices on the corporate end. Not all 3rd party retailers are reputable. Beware of pop-up kiosks! Also, always ask for your contract in writing before committing to it.

Being f***ed over is never worth a slightly better deal.

Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose , but why not stick with the safest route from the get go.
