Default Thinking about switching carriers.

Im currently with Verizon. I dont own a blackberry yet. I was thinking about switching to T-Mobile to get the Bold 9700 that you guys all rave about. Would this be a smart thing to do?

Only if they have good coverage in your area.

This coming from an ATT user, dead last in customer satisfaction. T-Mobile has excellent coverage everywhere in my area. I highly recommend them to anyone.

Not sure what me having to be an AT&T user has to do with my response? Just stating to the OP make sure the coverage meets your needs or the phone will be a paper weight and this applies to all carriers.

Agreed. OP needs to make sure that they have good tmo coverage at home AND work. I suggest doing a trial run and if you don't like it, give it back. Or at least ask a friend with tmo how it is or try a prepaid phone.

The good thing about T-Mobile is if you get deadspots indoors, you can use wifi on your 9700 to make calls/texts/data to make up for the deadspot. So helpful.

Wow, ******* fanboy much? That was completely unprovoked.

I am 100% satisfied with my AT&T service. T-mobile has TERRIBLE reception in my house, which is why I didn't get it 4 yrs ago. Verizon's service is better than either, though, but their phone selections have always sucked until they finally bit into BBs and android phones.

If you are in an area where T-Mobile has coverage, make the switch. If you are in a major metropolitan area like NYC or LA, you should be gold & have 3G coverage. I live in the sticks & still get @ least EDGE.

It would help if the OP told us his city/state location.

True. Fortunately T-Mobile is an excellent carrier and does a good job. While it's always a good idea to research your coverage area before switching from one carrier to the next, there are a few things we know for a fact. As an example, we know that AT&T is consistently rated as the worst carrier in the nation by Consumer Reports. So if someone was contemplating a switch to AT&T, they'd want to be especially careful in light of the horrible ratings that AT&T consistently gets.

In the case of T-Mobile, the OP is probably in for a treat switching from Verizon to T-Mobile as he'll get a darn good carrier for a darn good price.

You didn't say that in your original message. You insinutated that it would be a good idea to check on coverage leaving one with the impression that a move to T-Mobile might be risky. T-Mobile's ratings are excellent and your carrier's leave a lot to be desired. Let's have truth in disclosure here.

First of all, Beamolite didn't insult anyone and there is no cause for you to namecall him. Secondly, calling him a fanboy is against the rules. And thirdly, no telling the truth isn't unprovoked, it's just telling the truth.

I am sorry T-Mobile didn't work out for you. With that said, observing that your current carrier consistently receives horrible carrier ratings is simply telling the truth.

Bernie Madoff made some people money. That doesn't mean he was a good investment advisor. AT&T might give you good service but the overall ratings they get are shameful for a carrier of their size and prowess.

Just the facts.

In the end, the power of the free market allows anyone to make any decision to change carriers whether it be an educated move or not. OP, if you do decide to make a change, do it because it is what's best for you.
