Default Is there a lawyer in the house

Does this apply to selling themselves to a company I do not have a contract with, nor do I want to be with:

WE CAN CHANGE ANY TERMS IN THE AGREEMENT AT ANY TIME. YOU MAY CANCEL THE AFFECTED LINE OF SERVICE WITHOUT AN EARLY TERMINATION FEE (if applicable) IF .....(C) WE MATERIALLY CHANGE A TERM IN THESE T&Cs OTHER THAN PRICING IN A MANNER THAT IS MATERIALLY ADVERSE TO YOU.

Seems like selling themselves to the Death Star is a term change that is materially adverse to me.

Once the sale is complete you will probably have the option of leaving with no ETF. Therefore, they would be off the hook.

Why are you freaking out about this? The merger won't be completed for a year and you won't be affected until then. Relax, you're service will remain unchanged for a while still.

A better question would be "Is there a doctor in the house?" because with all the threads that you have started about this issue you need some tranquilizers to relax you.

    Sheesh.

    Rumor in some circles are:

AT&T will run a credit check in October on all account holders and decide who pays a deposit to get an AT&T account. If you don't want to pay the $400 per line deposit, you have 30 days from notification to not have to pay the ETF and cancel your service.

If you wait until after the 30 days, you have to pay the ETF.

who would want to pay the cancellation fee to begin with? times are rough and that can be expensive...

im not fond of AT&T either so im with you RWWackoStu

but im going to wait it out and see how this goes if i dont like it i do believe i would be allowed to leave without having to pay the fee

but then again my contract should expire by the time all of this goes down anyway

In retrospect, I am a fly off the handle person, who has past huge issues with AT&T. I went off and vented in a few posts, and can see how I could have annoyed a few people.

I will wait for more details to come out, hopefully ATT will make some concrete details available sooner rather then later.
