Default Tethering laptop to bb curve 8320 1 tip

Okay, so here is what I have discovered in order to be able to tether my Sony Vaio laptop with windows 7 to my BB8320. First of all, I spent days and days and lots of reading on threads posted. I tried the DM version 5.01 which has tethering support. I tried Tetherberry (even got some support from them but still no go). Both methods above (either using DM or Tetherberry would say that the laptop IS connected to the BB via usb but I could NOT get internet explorer to see anything. And I do mean I spent too much time trying to get it to work. I gave up. Then, I went to the Linux sites to see what kind of luck they were having and someone there mentioned that ou must set the MASS STORAGE MODE= OFF on the blackberry. Dang, that did the trick. It now works! Shame on Tetherberry for not telling me so.
So the tip is=SET MASS STORAGE MODE TO OFF else you won't be able to tether (at least this was so in my case.
Hope this helps someone frustrated as I was.

I constantly tether with my BlackBerry, first my 8320, then 8220, and now my 9700. I never had/have problems with it connecting to the internet while Mass Storage Mode is enabled.

Perhaps the problem you were having is a Windows 7 issue and not a BlackBerry one.
