Default tether question

I can't seems to get my 9700 running tmo's os, and dtm 5.0.1 to work as a modem. I had it set up and it was working perfectly, through setting up a new connection, and now when I try to connect with that connection it says the phone won't let me. I've tried the set up walkthrough, but the apn in the xml file is already set to "true" and I can't change the apn in that file because windows 7 won't let me. Also, I can't set up a connection in dtm even though I have the ip modem icon because it won't let me click on the configure icon. When I click on the icon a dialog box comes up and it says " unable to detect configured blackberry ip modem device. Please verify your desktop installation is configured correctly and restart the desktop" If anyone can help I would be greatful. Thanks. Feel free to send me a message on bbm if you can help. my pin is 216E3094.

You don't have to use DM to tether your phone. You can easily set it up to tether using a "New Connection" right on your computer.

I'd search the forum for info on how to do this.

Same thing happened to me too. I had to uninstall DM, then reinstall and it never gave me any error msgs after that. I dont tether a whole lot, but when I do I have gotten d/l speeds of 1200-1500kbps.
