Angry Tether issue

So I asked this in a different thread with no answer and I couldn't find anything doing a search, so. I've been trying to get a file onto my computer the past couple days. I start the download before I go to bed expecting the file to be there in the morning (and no, it's not teh pr0n) only to find a partial download and the tether disconnected. Does tethering time out after a while? Is there a workaround for this? Anyone experience the same thing?

I don't think it times out. I've used tethering to download some files overnight as well.

It sounds like there may have been a disturbance in the data signal or something during the night. I've had that happen...sometimes it just gets funky and shuts off due to low signal or something else.

When you tether, be sure you have lots of bars for better performance.

Where I live, I consistently have full bars, which is odd, but I'm not arguing.

I haven't tried downloading overnight, but I do tether for an hour each way during my train commute. It draws the phone battery down to 40%. My only suggestion is to make sure your phone and laptop are both on external power, and aren't on a light switch that you turn off at night.

FWIW on my laptop I use Firefox browser, which can resume partial downloads.

Good to know. I was just wondering since reception here affects tethering sometimes. I'm at college now and I get 2-3 bars, but no more.

haha not to sound like a ****, but I would put two and two together in the case of my comp being off completely after I turn the lights out . That's good to know, I didn't realize that was a functionality that firefox had.. I'll have to use that for my d/ling from now on. Thanks!

Edit: I like how j e r k gets censored, btw. lol
