| | Tell Me about T-Mobile
T Mobile seems to have great devices. I am with Sprint and really do not know what the differences are. Please educate me or point me in the direction of threads on this topic.
I would like to know about the network, the quality, the plans and what your experience with CS has been.
Thanks

I have had T-mobile in the past and I could not make a single call in my house I had to just go outside to use my phone. T-mobile is GSM and Sprint CDMA. So far I have not had any issues with Sprint.

My house can also be somewhat spotty however, my phone is blessed with UMA capability in my house so as soon as I walk in the door, it switches over to that and I have no more issues. Overall I am VERY happy with T-Mobile, it's phones and it's price plans. as for customer service, I seriously question the ability of some of the reps out in the field, but my phone experiences with them have been pretty good. I'm sticking with them.

I have been with tmo for about 6 years now (NYC area) and the coverage here (both voice and data) have been good. Not the best in terms of data in certain areas such as parks sometimes but in general it works.

Heres my take.....I just came from having a BB 8330 with verizon wireless in June.
1. Packages are cheaper but I like VZW's overall marketing idea I.E. Select package instead of everything ala carte.....TMO should look at that type of packaging.....
2. Reception......TMO has great outdoor coverage but due to there frequency band use indoor reception can be a big issue.
3. Customer service is FAR BETTER than VZW in all aspects prior to AND after the sale period.
4. UMA is a huge advantage but I believe its something they use to augment the pi** poor indoor reception.....WI FI in and of itself can be a hassle but once you invest time to learn the in's and out' your golden and it'll save you bundles.
5. Lower end phones are exactly that....but their 8320 and 8900 are superior to any other BB....partly because of the WI FI capability.
just my .02

I've used T-Mobile for years and have been really happy. I've compared data and phone plan prices and minutes. T-Mobile is highly competitive if not the best when it comes to value. My service has been good as well and I travel to numerous states. I would recommend them!

I've been a T-Mobile customer for almost two years now and I am happy with my service. They have cheaper plans. Their phone selection isn't as great though. I have the 8320 and I love it. I live in a small town and the coverage is okay to me. Every once in a while I'll walk into a building and I have no signal but I could live with that. The best part about T-Mobile is their customer service. In my opinion, it is by far the BEST.

Thanks | I've used T-Mobile forever now. I'd give them an overall "A+" grade. They work very well for ME.
Now we have no idea where you are located or what your really hot button issues are. I am not generally impressed with Sprint so I can't imagine that T-Mobile wouldn't be a step up from your current carrier but you need to do some research on your local area. Best bet always in my opinion is to find people who live in your area and are using the carrier you are looking at and then see what their opinions are. Living here in LA, most people I find are generally delighted with T-Mobile basically because their service is very strong here and their prices are the best available. Things however could be different in your area.

I've had T-Mobile for many years -- since they were "Voicestream" around here. Every time my contract comes up for renewal, I read the reviews, compare prices & plans, and compare notes with my friends / associates / neighbors. I come back to T-Mobile every time.
No one carrier is perfect -- but T-Mobile has the best balance for me of price, service, devices, coverage and excellent customer service (consistently in my experience).
Signal strength is low in my house, but UMA with my 8900 makes that a non-issue, and coverage everywhere else I need it is excellent.
Very happy T-Mobile customer here...

It depends if you're in a good coverage area. I luckily am so it works well for me.

It's been pretty good for me. I don't think I could afford any other cell service being a student and Tmo is def the cheapest.
Please please please make sure you're in a good coverage area. Lower prices don't mean much if you can't use your cell phone properly.
I would say that for voice and data, T-Mobile has the cheapest bundles available. T-Mobile also does NOT cripple phone's GPS or other functions. UMA is another plus. The only downside is that they don't have any international data options other than paying 15 bucks/MB.
Otherwise, if you have good reception, go for it.

Ive had tmobile for about 5 years now and the customer service is great. Some bad coverage areas inside buildings, but hey, even though i cant get reception some places at work, ive got great reception at my desk!
The only real complaint i have is blackberry selection. If you like pearls and curves, you are good, but full size blackberrys like the bold and some of the new phones without the separated keys... Its pretty much pearls, curves, my 8820 and the 8700. Thats why i have an 8820, nothing newer on tmobile i can stand.

What else is T-Mobile lacking in the GSM blackberry market compared to rival AT&T?

The main technical difference between T-Mobile and Sprint is the technology. T-Mobile, AT&T and most global carriers use GSM. Sprint, Verizon and US Cellular use CDMA.
The main observable difference between carriers is their plan pricing and their local coverage. Even though Sprint has better coverage in my area, I switched to T-Mobile for their plan pricing and options. T-Mobile's family and data plan prices are cheaper than Sprint's. My family was forever exceeding our 700-minute plan. With T-Mo we only use about 100 anytime minutes a month. The rest are UMA/Wi-Fi calls which are free with the Unlimited HotSpot Calling option. We use our phones a lot more and pay less than with Sprint.
You mentioned that you like T-Mobile's phone offerings. GSM phones have a SIM card, while domestic CDMA phones do not. With GSM service I can buy an unlocked GSM phone off eBay, take my T-Mo SIM card out of my BB and put it in the eBay phone, and make calls. No activation fee required. I could do the same thing with a GSM wristwatch cell phone. How cool is that? GSM carriers lock a phone to their network, but an iPhone for example can be unlocked to work with T-Mo.
That's my $.02, your mileage may vary.

@ Dantari, Driftwood is coming to TMo!! Will be top notch BB with 3G and wi-fi. Patience is needed, tho. We won't see it until later this year/beginning next year.
