Default T-Zones Internet

Is anyone currently using the tzones internet service on your Blackberry? I started using it on my Pearl a few years ago then took it off while I was using a Sidekick last year. I tried to put it back on my account a while ago but CS rep told me it would not work with Blackberries anymore. I really want to see if I can get it back on but would like to hear from some people who have recently put it on their phone or who have had it on their phone for a while and have not had any current problems with it. I know of the blackberry data plan but i dont use the internet that much on my phone and i very rarely use email so its really not worth it to me. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

here's what I know from experience:

my daughter had a Pearl 8100 when we joined TMobile early last year- the rep told me that I did need the BB data plan if I wanted email and web and YIM, AIM, etc on my 8320- but she did not. they had a "BlackBerry Enabler" feature then, which was free. since all she did was YIM all day, it was great- took her YIM's out of our unlimited messaging.

when I took the data plan off my 8320, I could not YIM, AIM, BBM, as well as no emails, etc. it sucked. so I added it back to my account within days.

I wish TMobile offered BB users just an email/IM/TZones plan for $9.99- they can block your web and point only to the TZones/WAP.. or a "pay-as-you-use" data option.

I have $19.99 on my 8900, $24.99 on my Magic and another $24.99 for my boyfriends (my old) 8320.. plus voice for $69.99, plus family unlim messaging for $19.99.. yeah, they're plans are cheap as it is, but $90 a month just for data and messages? that is a bit insane.

wait....wait...all IM programs are covered by messaging package....period, however any BB brought to or purchased with TMO requires a data plan now.

GPS/EMAIL/BROWSING is data.....

Well I had also asked about the IM and was told that you need to have some sort of internet in order to use any of the IM services. I even checked on all of our other phones on our plan(5 different types of phones) and none of them would IM. Just recieved a message that said this phone is not enabled for this service. The only one that did was my sister's Sidekick that has a data plan.

You can always call and ask nicely, if CS (more likely cancellations) can help, they will be more likely to hook you up if you are nice. News is TMo has been cracking down on TZones and berries so its probably unlikely, but you wont know unless you try. this has been discussed before, try searching for it and reading through this thread

all IM programs are internet based and are NOT covered/included in messaging plans on BlackBerrys on Tmobile's service. all IM programs require the data plan to work on Tmobile BlackBerrys. when I did not have a data plan, my IM programs did not work.

wow. I apologize for voicing my experience, on my device and with CS/Tech Support, and getting you so worked up.

try it out yourself- take the data plan off your BB and do a battery pull- watch your GPRS or EDGE turn to gprs or edge. try to send service books. try to BBM or YIM or AIM someone. attempt an email.

let me know how it goes.

Newbe here, and I find this an interesting topic, going back and forth... Below is what I have w/TM, and it all works just fine;
8120
No DATA Plan
400+ MMS messages
T-Zones

I forward emails from my regular email account to my BB and keep emails on server for 60-90 days so there is no sinc problem, the same as if you had multiple computers all accessing the same email account.
All my emails come with the imbeded images/text/links, I just can't get the big attachments and so forth, if I wanted all that I would just get the dang data package....

This setup is a great work around from paying 75+/mo if you don't need everything.

~BB IM does not work w/o the data plan.
~BB Internet does not work w/o the data plan.
~GPS does not work w/o the data plan.
~T-Zones is a bit slower, but definatly gets you there w/a few limitations, not many though.....
~Wifi at home is a speed up for the T-Zones and works great for downloads/call....
~Just like someone mentioned I have the small "edge" on screen.

Hope that helps someone.
