Default T-Mobile Visual Voicemail for BlackBerry Devices

Yesterday I installed OS 5.0.0.238 on my 8900 and it has the VVM icon.

When I click it, this is what it says...

"You are currently not provisioned for Visual Voice Mail.
To continue, make a selection below"

Then I have "cancel" and "sign up" buttons"

When I hit "sign up", it opens the WAP browser, here it says...

"Enable Visual Voicemail
To access Visual Voicemail, you must first add the service to your account.
Click the link below to enable Visual Voicemail on your account, available for no additional charges as part of your data plan!"

So when I click the link "Enable Visual Voicemail" i get...

"Change Service Result
Your purchase cannot be completed at this time.
Please visit My t-mobile.com or call *611 to purchase this value bundle."

It's amusing how it says it's free, then the next screen mentions "purchase" twice.

So this morning I called 611 and got a nice lady on the phone that transferred me to the "BlackBerry department" and i got another nice lady on the phone.

She told me that T-Mobile only offered VVM for Android devices and it was not currently available for BlackBerry devices.

My question after all of this, is am I just getting a CSR that doesn't know whats going on, or is this really a fact, that it is not available for BlackBerry devices?

Anyone here with any first hand experience on this matter with T-Mobile?

In closing, I'm not interested in using Google Voice, YouMail, HulloMail, or the likes, so please don't offer these as "solutions or workarounds" as I am only interested in getting the T-Mobile VVM working.

Thanks in advance for anyone that can offer any incite to this situation, if not, perhaps my experience can help someone else looking for the same information.

I have been trying to figure this out as well. I've used all the third party apps with no success. I can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone at T-Mobile.

It looks like its almost ready for roll out. I don't know if you convinced a Tmo CSR to flip the switch if it would work or not. There system may not even let them. I currently am using You Mail but look forward to the carrier VVM. There is a dirty rumor floating around that it will go live with the release of 5.0.

I called T-Mobile earlier and they gave me the "its only available for android phones". I wonder if someone installed their sim in an android phone and had the vvm activated if it would then work on the blackberry?

VVM has to be activated by T-Mobile as well. It's not just as easy as installing it on the Blackberry and it works. Wish it was.

Let's keep the thread on track please, this isn't about Android devices.

I just want to know when T-Mobile plans on provisioning VVM for BlackBerry devices!

I am glad to find out there ARE others with my same experience though!

Please share any information you find out on the subject here!

I called T-Mo today and was told that until they supported the new software, they could not apply the service to my account. Obviously I asked nicely a second time, but was told that it was not possible b/c their system wasn't setup to add to blackberry. Currently only supports Android!

Made the call and TMO said the would enable the VVM feature. They didn't say it wasn't available for my BB (8900 with OS5). Howver, it has been 50 hours since I called and still no VVM on my BB. I will call again tomorrow night to check on the status. I went to PDA support and not a regular CSR, maybe there were confused about it.

I experienced the same thing with I installed 5.0 on my 8900.

on the one hand, TMO biffed it by adding the VVM icon before they even have the service up and running. if there was a bright, shiny icon on my phone saying I had it, I'd be in your shoes trying to get it activated and just as disappoined when I'd find that out. For the time being, be patient, the VVM function will roll out soon enough.
