Default T-Mobile Text Issues

I just switched over to T-Mobile yesterday, and I am unable to receive text messages currently. I was on the phone with CS for about an hour then had to go into the dealer and they still couldn't help. They were really nice (as many on CrackBerry have pointed out), but the problem still exists. Supposedly it should be fixed tomorrow, but I am skeptical.

Has anyone else had issues like this? I am still in my 14 day period to switch without the ETF, and I am seriously considering doing so. I don't want to get stuck in a 2 year plan that has bad messaging the whole time. I love my 8900 but it's not worth it to me to stick around if things are going to continue to be like this. Any advice is appreciated.

Did you port your # to T-Mobile? Sometimes ported # have text issues temporarily. I would continue to consult CS. Call them from a phone other than your 8900 and they can troubleshoot it, if they haven't done it already.

BDR885, I think Artemis may have hit it on the nose. If they gave you a temporary phone number, until your ported number comes over, that could be part of your texting problem.

Also if you got your TMO service through a third party dealer, rather than a TMO corp dealer, that can cause a slow down in txting with porting a number as well. Does not happen all the time, but when it does, it can be a real PITA.

Thanks for the help. I called CS again and the woman (once again very nice) was able to fix the problem. I've been happy with my coverage and the customer service has been very pleasant to deal with. I just hope I don't have any more issues...

This is just a transitional issue that no doubt will be cleared up shortly as your account is activated.

I am a pretty big text messager and subscribe to several text messaging news alert services. I've never had an issue with T-Mobile being any problem on text messages and I've been a customer with them for several years.

T-Mobile is an excellent company and they do a great job. Be patient, all will work out well.

There you go. All fixed. Great.

As mentioned, T-Mobile does a great job. You're in good hands.

FYI in the future. Sometimes it may take 48 hours for everything to be working properly. Possibly longer for a number port.

E4G1 - I'm in the process of helping a friend move over to T-Mobile from another carrier.

Is there any rule of thumb these days on the time it takes to port from AT&T to T-Mobile?

AFAIK it could take a few days up to a week (extreme) But as long as nothing goes wrong in the computers and such its usually a few hours, But this is just from personal experience your results may vary.

If you helping someone move to Tmobile check your store and see if they have those little referral cards. Give one to him/her and if they use it you'll get a credit on your bill. Not all stores do it though

It took 5 hours on a Saturday for ATT SIM to kick me out and TMO SIM to welcome me
